TGP vs RX-8
« on: June 22, 2008, 01:22:24 PM »
My g/f bought an 07 RX-8 back in December. From the very beginning she thought it would smoke my Black TGP. After riding in it I knew they were close but I honestly thought she would win.. Throughout the next 6-7 months, every time that it came up I just agreed with her and said "Yes your car will smoke my TGP". The other night we were following each other down a 4 lane road when the light turned red. She got over in the other lane a pulled up beside me and said " Hows that old POS running". I asked if she wanted to find out, She said yes and it was on then  :icon_evil: When the light turned green she peeled off and got me by half of a car length. Once the turbo spooled and hit 14psi I started to pull her and by the time I hit drive she was a memory. Within a quarter mile I pulled her by over a car length. Now I know you guys are thinking that girls can't drive but I'm here to tell you this one can. I met her at Rockingham Drag strip back when she was running her turbo integra that ran constantly in the mid 11s. She loves speed and can drive the wheels off any thing. Anyways she has learned her lesson and want be racing any turbo cars again... Especially a TGP!!!!

So did I. They put down 232 from the factory and with the close ratio 6 speed it accelerates VERY well... Just not enough tho...

Is that your 268whp TGP? If so, I'm surprised it didn't leave the RX-8 a lot further. RX-8's only trap mid 90's I think? Do you let the transaxle shift where it normally does or do you modulate the throttle for lower shifts?

Yes, it sure was. The RX-8 has been modded a little so that helped her. I would have pulled her by a little more but she jumped me off the line and I had to play catch up for a sec... She knows how to drive that car pretty well.   :icon_eek:
