Exterior/Interior/Lighting / Glove Box Combos.
April 05, 2014, 04:47:51 PM
Hey guys I know I have been away for some time now but I am getting back to tinkering with my TGP rides. Today I ran a new radio antenna wire from the power antenna to the radio, then I pulled the seat control unit out of the center console to solder the broken wires I found, and the other day I had discovered someone in my family decided it was funny to mess with the combo knobs on the glove box. So after about a half hour of sequential attempts I found the right one. (good thing we only have three numbers to worry about). So now I am going to write mind down for that car lol.

For Sale / Want to Buy / '90 Black TGP coupe
April 01, 2014, 10:40:26 AM
Hey Guys I am looking at Selling Black TGP. It has around 180,000 miles Runs great Stops okay. I will be selling it with a Top-gun 160 chip installed, I do have a nice Valance for it but it needs to be color matched. I does need a headliner due to the fact that it has an aftermarket moon-roof that was semi-professionally installed So I had ripped out what was left of the headliner. I am asking $2,500 o.b.o.

General / I had a messed up dream...
December 24, 2011, 02:57:06 AM
I just woke up an hour ago from a strange dream that I was at some restaurant that had old advertisements and posters and i walked by one and seen a 1988 prototype of the TGP BUT it had the b4u body kit with out the lower valance instead it had the standard 88 lip but the area in the center where the gap to the radiator was a fiberglass housing for a huge turbo. The other thing is i read the description out loud "military grade prototype AWD" there was more to it but as most dreams details fade fast. I just wanted to throw this up before it completely faded.

Problems & Solutions / Trans troubleshoot.
April 20, 2011, 01:15:17 PM
I have been noticing a slight issue with the trans in my Black 90 I changed the fluid and filter about a year and half ago it was a major improvement. I stored it over the winter and didn't get a chance to start it at all till two months ago. I have been driving it off and on for the past few weeks, and I am noticing a fluctuation in RPMs as I am cruising at a steady speed. It seems as minor as if overdrive cannot make up its mind to stay engaged or not. So my first thought is that The Torque converter is starting to give up Overdrive lockout. I checked the fluid and it seemed to be near the right level, but I noticed a few small bubbles on the dipstick. Any Ideas?

General / My TGP Convertible Model
January 26, 2011, 03:54:40 PM
Hey guys I just wanted to start a thread about a model I am working on (since I can't afford to do anything to the real ones). Anyway It was a TGP model I picked up off Ebay and when I opened it up I noticed the body was stressed like something had rested on it for a long time. and I was bummed for the longest time. Then one day I had the Idea why not cut the roof off and do something unique with it. So hear are some progress pics of it and I will continue to show the process. Enjoy.

Exterior/Interior/Lighting / Custom Headliner
September 15, 2010, 12:37:48 AM
I was wanting to post this topic to see what experience anyone has had with headliners? I have an good Idea for basic repairs and have made a few on some cars, but the situation with my black '90 is that the moon-roof is aftermarket "Sky-top" from Missouri. I just loved finding out why the material was sagging when I tore it all out one day on break at work. I could see all the installer did (professional or lack there of ) took a Razor blade and cut a huge hole to accommodate the MR then stretched out headliner material from the edges of the original headliner base. So needless to say by car has no headliner at the moment. My plan is I brought home some cardboard Slip sheets for  putting on top of skids, and I was going to use ti to make a new headliner from. Once mocked up I was thinking on using fiberglass to reinforce it or also go all out custom sanded and painted. Its a project I would like to get started with soon, and I welcome any thoughts and Ideas I will get some pics up tomorrow of what the inside looks like before I start.

Exterior/Interior/Lighting / Broken door handles
September 08, 2010, 01:51:53 AM
Everyone here I am sure has experienced this time and again walking up to your TGP and going to open the door and "SNAP".

Well I just wanted to start a thread on this to see if you guys had any other solutions to this problem aside from just replacing the whole unit(which I can do with my eyes closed lol).

I had a few Ideas JB puddy for the repair aspect of it.

Electronic door poppers as the ultimate expensive solution.

So any and all guesses thoughts and procedures are welcome.

Problems & Solutions / Starts idles rough then dies
July 17, 2010, 02:10:01 PM
Thursday the 15th I left for work in my black 90 and was driving down the road, passed a truck at about 70mph not to much of an issue even though I still felt the need to replace my coil packs and ignition module. any way I get in front and bring my speed back down to about 60-65mph and went to accelerate more and noticed it starved for power and I let off still losing power i put my foot back down to half to 3/4 throttle still losing power then I pulled over to a side road and it died. At first it wouldn't fire at all. I waited a few minutes and it fired but died after a few seconds of running.

Now it is at home today the 17th. I have replaced the ignition module with a good tested one, Coil packs I am pretty sure are good, I checked the fuel pressure ( 45psi when key turned to on- start and run for as long as it does around 40psi). I even pulled off the EGR valve and checked and cleaned it. Checked one of my spark plugs It looked normal(the ac delco's) So now I am getting ready to pull the plenum off and ohm my fuel injectors for I am running out of Ideas in the heat of the day. I know this sounds familiar but I am mentally drained all hyped up for one project and the one just dropping in my lap.

I'm open to any Ideas hell if you wanna give me a call my # is (815)-238-7630

Problems & Solutions / What is this sensor for
June 27, 2010, 04:18:15 PM
I found this sensor broke on the drivers side of my black 90 when i was doing my brakes. it plugs into the steering box, and jonpro had a guess that it sends a signal to the ecm to raise rpms while turning. what do you guys think and what is it called so i can replace it.

General / WHY ME?
May 16, 2010, 11:28:07 AM
Where do I begin...... Well I started the tear down on my 89 to put the LS1 valve springs in and the comp cam rockers I got from GP Chief. Things didn't seem to be too bad until I broke the valve spring compressor that I rented from Auto Zone. Then my friends and I had to go back and get a different compressor then I got to the point of needing to remove the intake not too much trouble there then it came time to install the next stud to that holds one of the rockers in the center of the head ( I would take a pic but am really trying not to go ballistic right now) and was tightening it down until it got loose real fast.... All I could feel was here comes the bullshit in what now feels like Tsunami. At first I didn't panic, Headed back to AZ picked up the $30 Heil coil kit. Got back taped the hole installed the Heil coil and called it a night.
Today (Sunday) I get started by putting in the comp cam rocker stud and and noticed it getting tight as I still had a small gap to mate with the surface an then SNAP off it came just fricken wonderful. I had to take a small breather. Had thoughts of swap in another head but thought I could use my easy out set. Drilled a hole in the broken stud put the easy out in tapped it down to insure a good bite first I broke my snap on tap handle. Now getting more pissed. grabbed my (jaws of life) combination pipe wrench, channel lock pliers, and grabbed a hold with that and SNAP Now I have a broken easy out stuck in a broken stud in a heil coil in a stripped out hole with the top end my motor off and I need to go poop.

P.S. welcome to my perfect little world.

Hey guys I was wondering your input for Torque converters. I was thinking going to AZ but then I woke up :icon_idea: and decided to ask. First what is the manufacturer part number for the TGP? I also at the moment looking at re-manufactured ones on E-bay but I want some expert advice for a small budget. Also the car I am looking to put a t.c. in is my 89 which I am not gentle with at all. :icon_evil:

Performance / Original Head Gasket Material?
August 19, 2009, 12:43:28 PM
I was tearing my motor down and discovered that the head gasket material was copper core with fiber. Does anyone know where I can get these again since the felpro examples look chumpy compared to what I took off. Any advice would be appreciated.

May 22 was the first Midnight Mayhem at Cordova Drag park and for me it was awsome! My first night back since last fourth of July, my four runs were 1. 14.7 at 92mph 2. 14.68 at 93ish mph 3. 14.65 at 93ish mph 4. 14.67 at 93ish mph. I lost the slips their in the laundry somewhere. The opponents were 1. a looking to pretty 2000 mustang. 2. a chipped quad cab silverodo. 3. a newer 2.4L turbo neon with a moose call on his blow off valve. 4. the only one I lost to was a first gen mitsubisi eclipse five speed turbo. All and all a good start to the year.

As far as mods: Topgun 160 chip, MSD coil packs, K&N air filter, jeff m crossover,a hack job 3" exhaust from the down pipe to the stock y pipe and from the y pipe to two XL Performance mufflers, and I removed all the seats the radio and all the trunk fluff. plus the car is pushing just over 191,000 miles on the odometer. It does have a lowermilage turbo on it though.

Hey guys I am one of the many who have too many projects not enough money most of the time and was wondering if any of the guys that have done mods or what not would be willing to sell their t-25turbo(s)? I think I only need two more to cover what I need in that department. I know beggars can't be choosers but I'm not looking for rebuildables (I have two of those already :icon_sad:). I just need it to bolt in and go nothing too fancy. I know I'm not the only one either. Thanks for any input.

Problems & Solutions / blown turbo questions
August 18, 2008, 11:02:28 PM
I just blew my second high milage Spare turbo in the same car. Three all together between my tgps, and the shafts one has excessive shaft play, most recent a good 1/4in of play the second sheared the impeller in two and blew the bearings out the exhaust side. So the question is are they rebuildable or should i just break down and upgrade to a t-3.
