The S-AFC will work with no probs, but it can be a bear to tune in properly. There is no data loaded anywhere for our cars, so it is kinda hit and miss untill you get it right. The reason I think Jeff may have put the work into the chips is because it is a simple swap and a little more cost effective. It also gets rid of some of the limitations of stock calibrations. That is the reason why people go to stand alone ECM's / He just saves us a little work and a bootload of cashola. Thanx for the hard work Jeff.
90 TGP- Mods, yeah I have them...
90 DSM Turbo 5-speed
02 Beetle GLS

Look! I finally updated my sig!!

Sweet, thats what i wanted to hear. I am getting a topgun 160 first and if need be then the S-AFC and dyno tune w/ an wideband O2. I have a hookup locally that will allow me to tune it cheap. I am familiar w/ the S-AFC and the dyno shop is VERY familiar w/ them. tuning an AFC should not be a problem.

When I did my dyno run, my A/F was like 11:1 or 12:1.  Just right.  I was using a custom chip (pretty much stock except for 5 speed changes) and an MBC.  I got 202hp and 275 ft lbs at the wheels.  This was a pull from 3k to 5500 in 4th gear.  There is a pic of the dyno sheet on my site.  It shows a graph of the A/F during the run.  Your richness may just be the leaking crossover or leaking injectors.  I don't really think adding an AFC will help much now.  These cars don't really need an AFC until larger turbos/other mods start happening.  Get Jeffs chip, it's only $275 (I think) and you're done.  Well worth it.
