You don't. The vents drain into the bay.

The tray was probably rusted out from a battery that leaked at some point in time.

don't the "drip pans" supposed to catch some of the water and keep it from entering the engine bay? Just curious, I have a spare set of louvers that I'm putting into the hood on one of my project cars and don't need water to leak all over everything.

Yeah, but they still have large slots in them that will eventually leak water into the engine area. The drip pans are the low spot, so if the water gets in there it has to either evaporate or drain out.

Not a lot of water will really get in there though, but what does will drip into the engine eventually.

OK, thanks. Do you think I should invest in a turbo blanket or some kind of wrap, on one of my project cars, I'm fixing to cut the hood out and put in some of the newer style GTP(smaller) louvers in to help pull some heat out of the engine bay. The way I was going to place them would have the left side(looking from front) louver directly over my T3.
