I built a downpipe on my TGP this weekend. Pics are coming in a couple min. Its 2.5" mandrel bent, SS Braided flex and a flange. I have not added a high flow cat yet but i did gut my stock cat. It does seem to come into power faster. My car has some misc. issues (power serges) that i am going to address next. I am going to fix my X-over then start modding.

Stock Downpipe (notice the nasty pressbends)  :ghey:

M&S Production Downpipe (Smooth Mandrel Bends)  :biggrin:

I left my stock cat for the time being because i am RICH as hell and didn't want to damage a perfectly good new cat. I also Gutted my stock cat completely so it won't be a problem. I am putting a new one on when i get the A/F Mixture figured out and install it with my catback.

yahoo for some reason just won't let you link :( !  that is schweet.  you seriously need to think about making some downpipes, and cat-backs.  You can then buy all you parts and it won't come out of your pocket.  Thats awesome work!  If I wasn't soooooo broke I would definitely try to get you to do a downpipe, cat, and cat-back.  Hopefully within a month I'll be all caught up :(
hi-flow intake, straight pipe, dsm bov, 24lb inj,  polished upper intake, turbo, and frt valve cover.

This was the prototype. I am going to be offering them to you guys. I need to take it back off an build a jig for the Dp then i can start selling them. I am going to sell them depending on material cost for ~$180-$200US shipped in the US for the DP w/o cat. Enought of you guys allready have a high flow cat or want to run w/o a cat i am just going to offer the DP w/o a cat. Sence there is no flange on the system stock it will have to be installed professionally or clamped to the rest of the system after you cut the pipe.

the downpipe will include as you see in the pic Flange-to-flange setup, so it will need to be professionally installed again becuase there is no flange on there stock.
Kit:
* Flange (installed)
* 2.5" mandrel bent downpipe
* 2.5" SSBraided Flex
* Rear Flange
* Gasket
* Extra flange for welding to catback
* Nuts/bolts/washers
* Shipping

I might jetcoat them to prevent any unwanted surface rust and prolong the life of the pipe.

Sweet job Shane :D  Unfortunately I have to replace my cat now.  :(    I have a 2 1/2 carsounds on the way and would like to go with a 2 1/2 downpipe so I have a some questions. Did you use the stock down pipe and flange from the turbo to the pipe you made? How big is the hole coming out of the stock turbo down pipe to where you bolted the pipe you made. Did you use the stock flange on the pipe you made I didn't see the flange on your old pipe. Looks like you would have to go without the springs on the connection, is that why you put the braided section on?
Looks like without the springs you would have to loosen the bolts to slave the motor. Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't measure the oulet of the stock turbo downpipe. But the stock downpipe from the turbo to the exhaust system is 100% untouched and stock. I used a new flange, pipeing, flex ect and replaced the old exhaust downpipe. I reused the spring bolts. the flex is just better at relieving pressure on the exhaust piping. I can leave the flex out but i had it and i felt better adding it so i put it in. I plan on selling the pipe w/o a cat. and when you install it you can add your own cat or add a test pipe. the flange on the stock downpipe is still on there. they spot weld it on. I also spot welded my flange just like they did on the stock pipe.

OK. I was worried about the 2 1/2 flared pipe sealing aginst the stock turbo downpipe. It must be large enough to seal. There must be more room than I thought. Ill measure the hole when I replace mine next week.
Thanks alot for the info.
