strip some weight from the vehicle the day of the race.  anything that you don't need.  spare tire, if you have amps subs, let your imagination wander.  as far as performance the high octane will help.

I seem to remember hearing that the TGPs perform better on premium pump gas....instead of high octane racing fuel.

Run the race gas so you can turn up the boost. I would also invest in an air/fuel guage so you can push the boost a little higher and know where to stop to be safe.

thanks guys ! the spare tire and subs and amp are all coming out im gonn a be on like 4-5 gallons of gas i cant turn my boost up anymore i already have the chip so all my fueling probs are fixed and my friend told me to shove ice in my intercooler (crushed of course!) that ought to help some and im gonna get there real early so that i can put the ice in right before the race and he wont see me do it  also that will give my car time to cool down    also my friend and i are goin to open my exhaust right at where my cat  used to be so i should have very little back-pressure so that my highend is better oh yea i found out today that he is an automatic! which makes me feel a little better   but i still dont know if i can do it im gonna give it all i got though no matter what happens!!!! and besides my lumina frined and i always say "we cant lose" cause if he wins  we say i hope ur stang beat my grandpa car! if we win we say hahahah what a loser my grandpa car beat ur ass!! so no matter how u look at it we win

have you hollowed the a/c fins? if not do it!  take the air filter off since it's just a quick run.  could take the hood off and turn a cone filter up. or get a pipe bent for a temp ram air. remember windows up for less wind turbulance. put a half empty bag of ice on the pleneum  flaten it so the hood sqeezes it. dry ice by the air filter.  hmmm what other crazy thing can you do.  put a windsheild wiper squirter bye your back tires and aim it so it squirts his tires. then fill it with bleach.

Well, I guess your going to dragrace. Everyone put in great info for going fast.

Heres some more speed tunning tricks: Inflate your back tires 10psi more than recommended, lose like maybe 5psi from the front tires, and practice your launch. Those first 60feet are cratical. A bad takeoff can add like 1 to 3 carlenghts to your opponet. You'll be sitting there spinning your tires while hes already ahead.

Preload the trans to the stall speed and then let go. You know how. If not then this is how:
At the line, press the brake with your left foot and then with the other foot press the gas till you feel the trans locking up to its stall speed(this in D not OD). then when its time to go, release the brake, but leave the gas pedal the same, when you just feel the car jump or bong , then press the gas. You'll have to practice this alot.
Hope this helps some.

Well I just read your post on the TGP vs All. 0-100mph race. Well I don't get that. What? Are you all going to time each other on who can get to 100mph quicker, or go both at the same time and whom ever reaches 100mph first wins?  Well it just don't make sence. YOu could be 10 carlenghs ahead of him and he can still win. What?  Are you two going to have two people per car with stopwatches timing each other. That going to be one big crazy race. Talk about useing the honor system.

Please fill me in on what you guys are doing?

By shoving ice in the intercooler, I'm hoping you mean putting ice on the fins. If you put it in the intercooler, it will not olny block the flow, but through water into the engine..

The other thing I would do is adjust the kickdown cable on the TGP. These cars dont like to shift out of second, but by adjusting this cable just a little when I did the top end of my motor, i got rid of the problem. Also, if you have ac connected, try getting a shorter belt to help drop the drag on the motor.

ok turboGTU u brought up a good point i did not make it clear about how we determine the winner   sry we will run till the car that is in front hits 100 then he does the lights to let the other gy know its over if we are  side-ide we keep goin till one of us gets ahead so even if the guy in the back is doin 120 if he is behind wen the front guy hits 100 he loses.......did that help? as for the tire pressure....i never thought of that thanks! :D       Maximapage i did mean put the ice on the fins   that would be dumb to put it in the IC lol any way how do i adjust the kickdown cable?            My dad and i did a TB coolant bypass and while i had the TB off i did a very thorough cleaning of the inside and outside of the plate and bore            but now the race is gonna have to wait for a week or so cause my car does nto want to go wen i jump on the gas it trys to stall out(?) what the heck? and my brakes system sucks my ABScks in on dry pavment stops even with half pedal pressure         ???????i need to get this prob fixed ASAP!!!! i went throgh a stop sign on the way home from wrk today !! !!         it was ona back road and noone was coming.

I'll give you that on the brakes, the brakes on my TGP suck as well. I get in my Laser after driving the TGP for a while and the first thing I do is lock the brakes, due to being used to having to mash the pedal in the TGP. My Supra was even worse than the DSM, untill the engine went.

As far as the kickdown cable, I will have to look at the car tonight when I get home. I did it, but i'll be darned if I remember how.

1. Only run 100 octane fuel, you WILL run slower if you use anything higher (a proven fact).
2. Run your front tires at 22lbs
3. Launch by doing a power brake at 1800rpms
Now you have my secrets, learned from many mistakes at launching TGP'S over the years.

Packing ice into the intercooler will block air flow.  Instead, get 2 WS washer fluid spray nozzles and fill your washer fluid with rubbing alcohol/water mix.  Fasten the spray nozzles so they spray onto the intercooler and connect them to the bottle.  When the turbo is making boost, hit the WS washer button.  This allows more heat to be extracted by the intercooler.   If you run high octane fuel, make sure it is unleaded.

Finally...one of the Turbo gurus sets the record straight on the issue of racing fuel. Too bad nobody listened when I said it
