I broke off the bolt that the power wire attaches tocause I overtightened it. (yeah, I feel like an idiot) Is this something that I could take the alt apart and try to fix? It does have a lifetime warr on it and is fairly new, is it a possibility that autozone would give me another one? Or am I screwed cause it's my fault.  I just want to get the car running good again.

Take it back to auto zone and tell them your mechanic said 'it quit working because of the broken bolt/stud'...
Life time warrenty it quit working... just don't tell them you broke the stud :drinking:  :drinking:

Just take it back. They usually don't care. If the stud broke while removing it for a warranty return then so be it. It can be fixed but why bother.

Well I went back to autozone today, told them it broke, and they gave me a new one.  No questions asked, no hard time given.  :D   I'm pretty sure Pep Boys would have given me a hard time.  Now I can't wait to put it in and go for a nice long drive.
