Found - Part Numbers for Taylor Plug Wires

Taylor has their catalog on their website now in Adobe PDF format.  I found the answer to my plug wire question, view their wire set catalog and look for Pontiac V6.  It will give you this page:

It says 1988-1990 V6 VIN 2.8W, 3.1T,V GRAND PRIX, 6000

You can get the cheaper "Hi Energy wire sets" P/N 64630 for $22 at Summit, or you can go straight to the Spiro-Pro wire sets available in red, black, and blue for $39.69 P/N 74x30.  Both sets are custom fit, apparently.

Part numbers work like this. On the Spiro Pro sets, the part number is really 74x30 where the X is replaced with 0=Black, 2=Red, 6=Blue.  To get them at Summit take any Taylor part number and prefix it with TAY- so for example the P/N from Summit for the custom fit Spiro Pro wire set in Red is TAY-74230

I am ordering them tonight, they worked real well on my GMC Syclone so I am hoping to have the same results on my TGP.  The only problem is they are 8mm which may be too big for the factory wire looms.

I had a problem when I built the IROC with the wires fitting the looms, and keeping them from getting close to the headers.

To solve that problem, I enclosed the wires in pairs (V8, 4 pairs, 2 per side) using black spiral flex split wire loom, exiting not too close to the header tubes, I used what is called a NASCAR (that's where I first saw it, but may be used by many other series also) plug loom.

I will be replacing my wires when I get some time to start enhancing, right now I'm still in repair mode. I threw on a set of stock wires to fix a problem, and they don't quite dress in w/ the right length, so I will custom cut and crimp the new ones, and of course since that will be the last time the factory looms stand being messed with, I will dress it in spiral and use the wiretie looms.

A NASCAR loom is a pair of wire ties, the kind that drug cops use for raids, but only a much smaller size, say 3/16ths X 4" long. Form the first into a circle around two wires (or 3 or 4), and use the second to pull the circle into a 8 shape, tightening each a little bit as you go. Eventually, you'll have a slightly snug (not too tight) 8 holding 2 wires in parallel. Like I said, you can use this trick (I've seen many race cars dressed this way) to loom 4 together, then break out each plug separately in a 4-3-2-1 and it makes a neat appearance that true wrenchers will appreciate! Any one can go buy chrome, but to craft parts is true to the old time hot roddin, and I guess I'm showin my age there!
