:x  I have a 1990 grand prix ste the problem i have is everytime i change the oil in it. It smokes for about 500 miles then stops and when i say smoke i mean super smoker tractor style but it's white. When i pulled apart the turbo hoses they are full of oil. Just wondering if any one knows any secrets on this. and it's not the tranny modulator i checked that.
fast as fast can be you'll never catch this STE

Have you checked/replaced the oil return hose on the turbo?

No is that a common problem that and how would the return hose make it smoke does it develop a leak or something and where on the turbo is it located

There's a clear lining inside the hose that wears away after time. The oil can become clogged in this clear lining, thus backing the oil back in to the turbo, causing excessive smoking.

It's on the under side of the turbo. It's a black larger rubber hose that's about 8-10 inches long, and 3/4" in outer diameter. Remove it, and if it has an orange colored interior lining then it's probably the original hose. Go to a parts store and pick up some replacement hose and reinstall it.
My details are a little vague, I've only checked this once, and that was a while ago. I'm sure someone else will chime in on this.

Luke be right on, the most common is the turbo oil drain line separating internally causing the turbo drain oil to back up and leak out the turbo?s oil seal and into the exhaust.  90% of those with this condition have found replacing the oil line takes care of the problem and does not require a turbo rebuild.  NOW, the oil coming out of the turbo is pretty hot, so you need a drain line that can handle it, look for one rated at 350+ degrees, not that common even at hydraulic supply shops but maybe, or they might be able to order it.

Good  luck.

Has anyone found a place online that supplies this line?

I think it was  idbeast (Jim) that offered to get it for you.. I just went to the local diesel repair shop and they gave me a foot of it for free.

You must be thinking of someone else.  This is the first time I've mentioned this.

Jeff M has great hose (lol) its just flexible enough to get it in. Hydraulic hose can be very stiff to work with although it will handle the heat which is the main culprit.
