OK, here is a question for anybody out there.
I have a 90 TGP that needs an engine rebuild.
Where should I start??????
I'm planning on keeping the car for a while and I want to increase the performance capabilities.
A Jeff M crossover and a chip are a starting point.
Now, which direction should I go???
Camshaft, Reworked heads, Turbo, Different pistons, Different compression, almost anything goes but the car would have to be driveable and reliable.

BWAHAHAHA

Okay, here goes:
Production block, bored MINIMALLY to achieve good surface, camshaft either stock or custom grind.  If you can't figure out what grind you need, keep the stocker.  Heads, get them to flow like the Missipeepee, pistons, I'm going w/ Ross, custom ~8.5:1, Turbo T-3 w/ Super 60 wheel, (have to look ALOT more into an exact turbo, but a DP for now would probably be good enough, if you don't want to change your x-over) O-ring the heads or block and go w/ copper gaskets (Overkill doing both, but why not?)  MBC (still trying to decide on which one as well)  Rods, forged SBC rods, Custom 3" DP, and a dump.  Of course regular machine shop services required, align hone, clean & mag. the block, sonic check the heads, balance, check the deck height, freeze plugs etc.  I would run an MBC w/ boost selector (if you plan on running much on the street)  I will anyway, because I plan on running a TON of boost, 18+ psi (If I can get traction and not break shit, hehe huh Curtis   ), (another reason I am going w/ copper and O-rings) Full roller rockers. And some other things that I can't remember right now I'm sure.  Of course at this level it's gonna have to be custom tuned.  That's where alot of people get into trouble, w/ anything that involves better VE.  (Turbo, heads, cam, etc.)  If you just want to be safe w/ Jeff's chip, I would stick w/ a stock valve job on the heads, and maybe pnp the intakes.  That should keep you in the ballpark of the upper end of that chip.  Copper gaskets just for a little security.  Stock cam, Jeff's X-over, I still preach MBC, I've had so much trouble w/ the computer controller I hate the stupid thing.  New stock pistons, and a full machining.  Josh (Malibuolds) is going through basically the same thing right now, so would be good for him to chime in now.

i've got my 'V' engine disassembled down to the shortblock, but i'm going to have to wait until i buy new pistons, cam, bearings, rings, etc. and have a little money saved up before i send it out to the machine shop.  so for now it's basically on hold :?  when i started pulling the heads off i was planning on just changing the head gaskets, but unfortunately i found one piston that was FUBAR.  yep that changed everything.

mine is going to be all stock, with the exception of a minimal overbore.  i'll be using new Mahle stock oversized pistons, new stock cam, cam bearings and lifters, new timing chain set, new valve springs, new oil pump blah blah blah.  i am not going to be building the shortblock, but i will be doing the rest (the easy stuff :P )

i'm also using the stock turbo, but i'll need to burn myself a custom EPROM since i'll be using a 5-speed with this engine.  i'm new to all of this, and have barely even started yet.  for right now i'm just going to be saving money and buying parts.  i would like to get a little more wild with the engine, but i'm on a pretty tight budget and really just want to get this engine in the car ASAP (while still doing everything the right way of course).  once i have a little more experience with the turbo 3.1 i will probably be a little more comfortable running more boost, bigger turbo, ported heads, custom EPROM for it all etc.  that stuff is a little beyond me right now so i'm going to try to keep things simple :)
