Is part number 17989117 on Gmpartsdirect the correct piece i would need to replace a driver side ball joint?  That is what it gave me using the catalog so I think it should be.. just checking for sure. Thanks :)

just get an aftermarket one from the parts store. I recommend a TRW brand ball joint.

Either Moog or TRW are both good... IMO :drinking:

I have a similar questions so instead of starting a new thread I'll just ask here.  I replaced my tie rod ends yesterday because I was getting some pull in my steering.  All went well with that but while I was doing it I noticed my ball joints need replacing (probably more then my tie rod ends did).  I got onto www.rockauto.com and looked to see what they have.  Two parts come up.  One is a Moog part number K5301 and the other an AC Delco part number 45D2148.  The thing I found interesting is the eight digit number in parenthesis after the description (88911642, hmm, looks kind of like a GM part number!?).  I looked that part number up on gmpartsdirect.com and it comes up as a "joint kit".  I know that as per GM the part number for our ball joint is 17989117 but does anyone know if 88911642 is a joint that is for our cars?  Maybe it's an upgrade?  Also, how do the AC Delco joints compare with the Moog or TRW joints?

I don't know the GM part number for these. Moog and TRW are as good or better then OEM.
