SE/GT model Prix' or a GTP model? Either way, you're probably going to lose being that you already lost to a slooowwwww ass V6 mustang.  The GT would be a decent match for a bone stock TGP in 100% perfect running condition, the TGP should edge out the GT pretty easily  though.

Indeed.  My TSTE is very far from running at 100%, and it still had no trouble catching up to and passing this GT coming out of a right turn.  I didn't know he was going go gun it, so I had some catching up to do.  The kid in the GT was friends with my passenger (and the GT had no passenger of his own).  I was pleased to say the least.   :D

Depending on the condition of your car and if the other car isn't a GTP you should have no problems. I can smoke the '04 GT's prety easy. I only have a filter, BOV and no mufflers.

I didn't read the first post quite right, sorry bout' that.  I'm assuming you're wanting to race your friends 01 GTP...if so, prepare to be beaten unless the guy in the GTP cannot drive AT ALL...I raced a local GTP owner  before(stock 00 coupe) in my lightly modded TGP(has ran a 14.7 @ 1100 ft) in a 0-80mph race and I stayed w/ him to 30mph, after that the GTP started pulling more and more, he had abou 2+ car lengths on me and seemed to be pulling more when we shut down ~80mph.  I guess some of the slower GTP's can be matched/slightly beaten by a mostly stock TGP......btw, another local GTP owner ran a 14.3 @ 1100 ft in his bone stock 01 GTP(36K on it)..he backed it up w/ another 14.3 as well.

fwiw, i have *heard* there is alot of variance with the newer GTPs...some run low 14s stock and others will run mid/high 15s.

3rd gen GTs are slower than 2nd gen. My 99 GT can run with most stock 2nd GEN GTPs and the only mod it has is an offroad pipe (with the perpetual SES light option )...of course I actually know how to DRIVE my car!   It's not all the car...the driver is important too

The GT will def. have you off the line  8) , unless the guy is a terrible driver. You you should be able to pull away from him though.

This kid drives like a nut period. Tailgates, speeds, brakes and shit. I tell you his car gets off the line fast and just pulls away fast so i dont know if i should save myself the embaraseent and wait to do minor mods.
