I've got 4 new KYB's in my garage.  I'm thinking about doing strut mounts too, while I'm at it.  Anything to look for as far as to see if they need replacement?  Or is it a good idea to just do it.  And where is the cheapest place to get them.  8)

Strut mounts on front...check for ease of motion from the strut bearings. Check for cracked or failed rubber spring bushings. They normally don't wear out. Plus on the front you will have to completely remove the strut for this inspection. When you do the cartridges you do not need to dis-assemble the strut. Use W-body tool with the strut cap plate removed and without car raised!

Rears...the upper strut mount is a little rubber piece with metal re-enforcement. Mine did not look like they had been worn even slightly...but in high salt areas or if it was soaked in oil somehow...they will need to be replaced. They are cheap enough for the rear mounts to just do them as preventative maintenance... 8)

Thanks...I'll go ahead and get the rear ones just in case.  I guess I could always return them.  I only have the cartriges for the front, so I'll just do that rather than take the whole strut out.
