The gears are stock for now and I will be playing with them within time but as of now there just stock ratio. I posted on here because even though I added my own turbo its still a turbo gp like the rest of you guys, :D  just a different motor. I'm willing to bet there will be more newer GP comming on here with there turbo cars also.

Though the supercharged GTP and Regals have proven they can go very fast for a street car, and I sure give them respect for it, I am also glad to see the understanding with the superchargers "available" (key word there) that the mods necessary to be real fast brings on a lot of work, and Matt hit right on it with his statement!  Simpler when wanted to go low 11s and faster to go with a turbo.  This affords not only a larger selection of turbos but also many different trims, A/R ratios etc from different suppliers to give the owner a wealth of matching opportunities.  AND now that the air is free to be piped, a large selection of front mount intercoolers can be selected from and used!  The 3.8L motor is also large enough to power some rather large turbos meaning still having some street-ability meaning boost within the first 3,000 rpms, unlike a 4 cylinder running 500 hp though, all the ones I know with over 300 hp really don?t have much of the other ?street-ability? for another reason since the light front end of a little car and the typical size front tires provide little traction in any gear.  Even my friend Curtis and his 60-1 Cavalier with a well built TGP engine can spin/not put the power down to the street in the first 4 gears if he boosts too much.  With a heavier W-Body and some wide tires (245mm stock for us) we have a better chance of some higher street-able hp.

Also glad to see Ryan that you did not feel yelled at for the mentions of coming here with your questions  :D , I only replied like I did to let you know to not be disappointed with the limited replies in response to your needs that you were going to get 8) , at least to the level of answers/help you were looking for.  You are welcome here I am sure, and I ALWAYS believe other turbo players have much to offer 8)  (as Jim W says), that is one of the most enjoyable parts of the Message Forums/Mailing Lists and Local Chapter Get-Togethers I have been in from GNs to TTA to Sy/Tys, always ways to cross ideas over, even the Asian Invasion has brought out a ton of technology and parts we otherwise would not have for our use as well.  For sure/for now we don?t have any 3800s let alone a super or turbo versions on the TGPs or TSTEs.  And just to let you know, with the build you have and the anticipated hp/toque values and times you anticipate, I don?t need  no stinking time slip to believe its fast or able to run 10?s 8) .  We don?t have much of an aftermarket so parts are limited and I seem to be the only one trying to work out some performance stages, not enough customer base for anyone with half a brain to think they want to do all the work for only a few customers  , but my motivation is more to share and help those few, it has to be as there will never be much payback on parts/research for only a handful of really fast TGP/TSTE owners  .  And since we only have a few thousand of these cars on the road, pick from them the few owners wanting to be fast, there really is not a wealth of high hp cars to get some ideas from, sorta sad, we have quite a few savvy turbo/motor heads here from other backgrounds, we just need some owners that are not working hard to get through collage and having to work part time jobs to survive, I respect their predicament.

As for your setup and the initial gearing, that is how I approach my work as well, record all the baseline data stock and during every mod to know the results, this is the only way to know if all these effort/$$ and heading you in the right direction. Jump too fast and you might miss something that was perfectly matched, or miss an area that if once worked on, brings the entire package to your final desires of power domination  .

One of my own final builds that after 6 years of waiting while I finish and put into place kits for the (small  ) masses is an Aluminum Bow-Tie 60 Degree Block, Billet Shorter Stroke Crank, Carrillo Rods, Forged JE Pistons with 8:1, 3100 heads and mod?d intake so I still retain the stock intake though that will be honed out, mod?d TB, Upgraded Fuel Pump and 50 lb injectors, Front Mount top/down Intercooler to fill the front and a Garrett GT Turbo good for around 550 hp, very well built tranny with hardened parts, special valve body mods and others, and racing/street clutches.  And like from your build parts, from these parts I have I know it will have 350 to 400 hp on street gas and more hp on 100 octane no-lead, and run some good times but won?t guess at those yet.  This one should see road duty by spring and will feel odd driving one of my cars for a change instead of all the ones I work on for others.

So have at it man and best of luck!!!

Quote from: BlackdOutLuminaSSseems about right but a turbo that big only looks like it'd be good for racing only. And the superchagers can do more then he's giving them credit for because just by adding a smaller pulley and machining out some of the internals of the SC, im sure,  can do alot.

It's not as simple as just adding a pulley and gaining massive power, you need supporting modifications.  The M90 is decent if you want to run 11's/12's(I'm aware that one has powered a 97 GTP to a 10.8 1/4 mile run, but that's w/ weight reductions and every other modification known to man), but after that, you really need a better supercharger/power adder.  Also, GTP's are doing those times with basically turbo kits/tuning/exhaust work(stock heads, cam, etc.) vs. the supercharged cars needing more stuff to do that.

How much mod did it take to get it that fast? Altho i wont be racing my car at all i would like it to be about low 14's (maybe high to mid 13's) just as an example of how fast i do want it to be.  How street drivable is that car?Thanx

Absolutely positively without a doubt any Turbo'd GP is more than welcome here. A little diversity just might be the ticket for this site!

L67 welcome and talk away! And as others have said...Holy Shit that is one big Turbo!

Better get a pole barn to hide them     Yea, sorry it looks like turbo heaven in my garage   when you been around for a few many years you collect up enough money to collect up the cars you want, though there are many more I would like but there is a limit to my funds and being able to enjoy that many.  I think the last Camero SS in black with a convertible is one of the best, baddest looking cars out (I am not into overkill like a Viper, that?s just me).  A Black GNx is always good looking, I prefer the Typhoon over the Syclone, again that just being me but the big fatness the aero kit does to the trucks looks more in line with the bigger Jimmy the Typhoon is based on, and they are so easy to drop, a simple torsion bar bolt adjustment in the front and some $30 aluminum drop blocks in the back and done!!  I respect the great looks of the sporty looking red TGP, but prefer the badder looking black ones, got 2 of those, one that has to stay stock as I test simple bolt on?s I can recommend to others, and my pealing paint white TSTE that also had to be built with restraint as it had to be like anyone?s engine running just upgraded heads, larger turbo and larger injectors/chip.  At least the other black TGP has always been too different that what chip I make for it will not work on any other TGP, so at least that one I can do what I want to it though like I said, waiting 6 years to get to it.  Same with the truck, Art Carr was changing owners, and I did not know this (and the effects) and the 650hp 700R4 they sold me had very poor workmanship, apparently the crew there was upset(?) or worried about their jobs while getting a new owner?..so I found out later when the tranny fried 3rd gear and decided to become pneumatic instead of hydraulic it was a poor build!!  Then one day just cruising a long the engine started making a knocking noise and engine ran rough, get home and find out (after some work!!) that the nice SpeedPro Roller Lifters were not designed well   (they fixed this problem in the next batch I bought, but too late  ), come to find the horizontal bar between 2 lifters that keeps the lifter/rollers facing the cam lobes broke off allowing my rollers to face the cam lobe sideways, taking off the lobes by the time I got home, fun, so it sits like others waiting for me to get time to work on it, fortunately I see things like this as an opportunity to make it better and faster the next time?.turbo was a bit laggy and I did not want to go any higher with the stall converter so now have a chance to really benefit from the full ball bearing turbos, and a little tweak of the A/R to wake it up since I won?t see the 8,500 the engine is built/balanced for and not needed anyways since these engines are more torque monsters, can you say?dyno slips with 749 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpms, and all wheel drive to put that to the ground   10.8 in its day!!.  Way better tranny rebuild kits now from a master at such things Brian Hartman!!!...great guy too!!  Swap out (and maybe sell) the old school DFI and get a F.A.S.T with wide-band auto fuel trimming, that has to be the best tuner technology out in the last 50 years!!  Lance Ward and the Meaney Brothers did up the DFI, then FP (FelPro) Performance, then SpeedPro Electronics and finally the FAST, these guys are scary smart!!  Some other work to the truck but that will still be a few years away to completion!  Maybe the wrong place for this so others can just skip the rest, no L67 here, just other turbo car talk though, when owners complain about their TGPs/TSTEs needing fixing and wallet master and all that crap, I have found not many other cars are any different, the Typhoon had way more pain in the a-hole problems that all owners had to fix to make these trucks proper, all wandered all over the road, never going in a straight line, no one could find a fix so knowing it was not going to be easy (and I lived in Michigan where you CAN find the good guys) I found a professional suspension design and setup shop, they looked into and found the proper changes and now it runs straight and true, all the Sy/Ty owners on the mailing list I was on then were all very happy with the results I described to them, and all enjoyed their trucks much more after that.  But it had it's things like any car, hell even my wife?s new CLK500 had a huge lean spot at take off, actually falling on its face when you punched it at times, they at least had a program fix for it but WTF, why is there a problem like this to a new car from ohhhh, Mercedes Benz  , built like a tank yes but still had some teething problems, like the shifts having a ton of torque management, enough to feel like the engine was running out of power when it was about to shift, other things too but I believe the addition of Chrysler to MB is like an ice cube in a glass of fine brandy.  So to wrap this up, the grass looks greener on the other side, like those square headlight from the Euro GPs but once you have to mow that greener grass, not always as sweet as looking at it from a far  .

I want to thank everyone for making me feel welcome and I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.

BTW it is my street driven car I even drive it to the track and hope ( as far as 1100 miles, but of course its not my daily driver

Jeff thats quite the garage you must have and like most on here I also want a typhoon and just may get one at some time. We already have quite a few very fast 3.8's in our team like a GN thats 40 over and lots of performance parts ( too many to list) that should run low 10's maybe even into the 9's with suspension work and a SC gtp with l36 bottom end and a l67 top end to figure out.

Ive been working with the 3.8 motor and am actually specializing in it. I own Attention to Detail and Tune and I do all sorts of custom porting and polishing, SC tunning and just about everything you can think of when it comes to performance.

thanks to everyone

TGPto_restore

Well guys it has been a while. Been working so much I havent had a lot of free time. My 90 is almost done. It will look like when I was a kid, and I bought my first one when I was 15. However, I have decided to sell it. Two reasons. A stated by Jeff M, not enough aftermarket going around. These cars do have reliability issues. Second, not sure how the TGP would fare on it's smog check if I go crazy on the motor, or how the CHP would like any mods if I were to get pulled over and inspected for 50 state compliance.

Now check out this link. This is the sickest thing I've seen yet, especially the link below the dyno chart for the VIDEO! The TGP is reborn, with all the bulletproof attributes of the 3.8 and the moderness of a new car.

That is the first kit out there for the 3.8 and theres going to ge lots of improvments with other kits in the market. If I could recomend the Stattama racing kit is probably the best on the market. The stattama kit produced about 418 whp ona grand prix gt with turbo kit and 1.9 rockers everything else was stock. I think the GT produces about 145 whp from factory.
