Can small leaks in radiators be repaired without an entire recore? Not stop-leak small, but not gaping hole sized either. Someone had mounted an aftermarket fan directly through the radiator, and the mount ties rattled/cut a hole straight through in one spot. Can that small area just be patched? How much should I expect it to run me?

itd possalbe to have the hole soddered by a rad shop......but thats there call if its small enough or not...

i dunno a cost but has to be cheaper than a recore.... :?

Thanks for the input Dave.. I'm really hoping it's still salvagable. It's not that bad, but.. well, it's bad enough that somehow, after I thought I had finally leaked all the coolant there was to leak, that after I start the car, within 5 minutes it's misting and bleeding all over the valve cover again.

btw- money order goes in mailbox TOMORROW! again, sorry about the delay

Why didn't you get that radiator from Pontiac Jeff?  You had dibs on it!  Did he go crazy on the price or what?  Or did it totally fall through?

It doesn't run anymore.

I had called it way back when, before I bought the TGP and had planned on turboing the Cutlass. Then the TGP deal came around and I figured someone else probably needed it more than me, so I let it go.. :headbang: I PMed him about it like a month later, it was gone :(

A radiator shop will just close up the tubes that run all the way across the radiator where the leak is. Yea it reduces the cooling by xx but it is the least expensive way. I drove mine for 6 years that way with 2 tubes pluged. Finally bit the bullet and had it recored about 2 weeks ago. Big difference. My core was pretty bad. After you see your core you wont want to put it back in the car. Some of the tubes were almost closed up. Cost me 250. I also narrowed it 3/16 on the left side to clear the intercooler better.  Now the upper rad hose just slips on and off eaisly :D  Don't remember what I was charged to plug the tubes.

I had mine recored to exact TGP specs and a slightly thicker core......

since its a 5-speed i also had them remove the tranny cooler....so a bit more volume due to that...
