I've got an interesting problem.  Lately, when I first turn the car on for the day, after about 15-30 seconds of engine run, the SES light comes on.  It will stay on for about 2 minutes and go out again.  If I turn the car off and back on again, it will usually wait a few more seconds and then come on again and go out a little faster with engine running.  I've tried scanning for codes (jumper method counting flashes) but since it clears when the car is off, it just gives 12.  Any ideas what it could be?  I'm thinking it must be some sensor that isn't warmed up yet because if the car is sitting in the sun or its warm that day, it doesn't do it.  And, once the car has been driven for the first time and the light goes out, it doesn't come back on again until it sits for a long time (overnight).  Suggestions?

Can you pull over and check the code with the light still lit?

How many time are you letting the SES light blink when you use the jumper? I know it blinks 3 or 4 times before going to the next code.

As far as I know, you have to turn the car off to check the codes and that resets it so no, it doesn't matter if I pull over... its gone by then.

As for how many times I get the code, it just blinkes code 12 over and over and over again, it will do it 3 times then 3 more then 3 more then 3 more... I know its supposed to start with code 12 then the problems but it never gets past the 12, it just repeats over and over and over.
