How does the quench of the TGP piston/3x00 head combo compare to the quench of the 3x00/3x00 piston/head combo?

It is my understanding, that the TGP is 8.8:1 cr, while the 3x00 is approx 9.6:1?

I'm wondering which piston will be better for turbo application....   I know quench is important, and as long as the TGP piston offers 'good' quench, I'll go that way.

Hey, it's gotta be better than my iron head 3.1 piston's quench area :)

The 3*00 does have better quench area (outer edge only). This means changing your iron head to aluminum head setup. Unless you still want to keep your iron head. IN reallity.. You can keep your iron head and use your stock 3.1 iron pistons with a thin gasket. Or iron head pistons, aluminum head...though this would yeald a 12:1+ CR..which you would need a cam to keep the cranking pressure down. THough..this is what im going to experiment with.

For the lack of Quench..you need to up the boost on the iron head setup. I woun't bother with the 3*00 pistons..unless your going full blown hybrid swap. This means changin over to DIS. which your block lacks a trigger for. A guy named Raven on the 60degreev6 forums has done a hybrid swap on a turbochaged S10.

Yes, I see that...  I'm mainly concerned with quench area of TGP pistons vs 3x00 pistons.   If the TGPs are not very much worse than the 3x00, I'd rather have the 1 point less compression.  :)

Just so we are all on the same page - I'm talking TGP pistons + 3100 heads on a RWD iron block (I have a solid iron 3.1 right now)
