I removed my turbo and crossover the other day......

im having my EGT bung welded into the neck of the crossover, just before the turbo flange.

and while i have that bugger out im going to wrap it with DEI header wrap.

and then spray it with this

with no covering for the crossover that damn thing heads the engine bay up SO much its scary...

maybe you TGP guys may not have it as bad due to the hood louvers but its a big issue for me without any.

anyway thats my plan and when i get it all back together i have this DEI kit for the Turbo Turbine.

anyway just thought i would share  :icon_biggrin:

In the summer I can see the heat waves rolling out of the louvers. I opened my louver drain pans as much as possible to allow for more airflow.

I wonder what it will be like under there when the big turbo is installed.

twinturbosedan

nice.  where do you order the DEI stuff from?

i've noticed that if anything my Cutlass seems to run too cool.  usually when i'm driving around i only get 5 bars lit up on the UB3 temp gauge.  it definately runs cooler now then when it was NA.  never seems very hot under hood either.

Ebay i have bought most of it from actually

much cheaper than retail from "speed" shops

I don't seem to have an issue with engine temps, just radiant heat under the hood....

just a precaution against the heat...

I have never been a fan of turbo blankets. They are made of toxic asbestos which will kill you if you breathe the invisible fibers. always use a resperater when you go to yank out the blanket. take it right over to the garbage and throw it away. rinse off the dust that remains with a hose. never wrap a turbo it holds in the heat and too much heat will crack the turbo housing.  all you do is heat wrap stuff directly around the turbo, pipe and egr hose.  You ever notice anything hot like that that gets wrapped will crack from heat stress?  x-over pipes, turbos, egr hoses. use your senses to realize the obvious. the heat must escape.

(note: the shield is made of non-asbestos mineral fibers and should not pose a health risk but to be safe, avoid breathing any dust generated).

yea thats what I was trying to say,  but if its like in the garage and the sun hits it you can see the clouds of sparkly dust floating through the air. kinda like fiberglass dust. once it gets in your lungs it doesnt want to come out.

So you say a hard cast? Will it allow for the bellows to flex? I wonder how it will handle the heat?

Looks sweet though man!

So you will have EGT, WB02, and emulation? I HATE YOU!! :icon_evil: ;)

Invasion1

ya the bellows will flex i don't have them wrapped to tight for that reason, there is room to move.

yes you should hate me
