Product Description: Does everything in one package, one USB-based device! USB-powered, so no power supply needed. Chip burning/reading, datalogging, and realtime emulation. Performs ALDL communications at 160/8192 baud, programs AT29C256, 27SF512, and AM29F040 chips. Has 3-channel 0-5v 10-bit A/D provision fpr wideband and other datalogging. Includes AutoProm device, 28-pin 18-inch emulation cable, OBD1-style ALDL cable CABL1, 6-ft USB cable, 1x 29C256 chip, 1x 27SF512 chip, 1x 29F040 chip, and Mark Mansur's "TunerPro RT" Software license. PLEASE READ through product documentation to understand some of the features of this all-in-one, datalogging, realtime emulation tuning, and chip burning hardware. Keep in mind you'll still need a chip adapter and probably a ZIF, so select them from the Adapters and Sockets categories if you don't have them already. Fully compatible with TunerPro RT and TunerCat.

Drawbacks

-Powering the unit from the Car's Battery is questionable (not proven possable yet says the manual), it comes with a AC wall plug in but what good is that in a car.

-This unit would have to be mounted in the car with the ribbon cable run through the firewall to the ECM box, where that could have durability issues and function due to RF interference using the 3 foot ribbon.

I guess I don't understand your statement/question. You want one with an AC plug-in or you don't? Most of these are USB powered through your laptop or PC.

I see what you are saying now. :icon_eek: Might give Craig a shout and see what the deal is there. Most of the newer chip programmers are USB powered and work real well.

ya in the documentation it says

"It might work off battery voltage without a problem, but this needs to be tested out."

dosen't sound promising...

im not willing to "test" that after spending $300+ and not be 100% sure.

Hmm..you need a computer to do anything with it since its USB powerd. Just like my home browed ALDL interface, My Williams programer...I need a computer of some sort to read data and write data. So why would anyone use it on a battery?  :icon_wink:
Unless they mean to keep the emulator alive without a labtop  :icon_question: .

I would likely grab that SOB though. Its real nice compared to the old dinosour EXPENSIVE "VCRs" used by the gray haird foxes.

So why not get an inverter with two AC plugs and you'd be good to go right?
