NEED unmolested stock 5-speed .bin

Hey guys,

I am looking for a completely original untouched 5-speed chip/.bin file. Likely from an 88 or 89 GP. I tried to look around using google but no luck. I guess a 3.1 would be the motor of choice to get it as close to the LG5 as possible.

If you can upload it here or send it to my email it would be greatly appreciated!

Should be damn close to what you need man.  the VSS pulse divisor/constant will differ, but that's an easy one.

adapting the NA 3.1/5-speed chip for boost huh? :icon_biggrin:  i was wondering if that could be done.

i have a MemCal from a NA 3.1/5-speed 1990 Grand Prix around here somewhere.  i could send it to you if someone can't email you the .bin file.  i was using it in my Cutlass before i turbocharged it and obviously have no use for it now.

Thanks MARS, but with 27,600 differences and way too many "Item Not Identified" to even start to work with.

Josh...Send me the chip if you don't mind. I have an idea and may just be able to make the perfect 5-speed LG5 chip! ;) Could use an extra MEMCal if you have it. I will pay for it or if you need a few $$ for shipping cost let me know. :icon_cool:

I have one from an '88 GP, but I think it's a 2.8.  I have it on the computer at work, but I can email you on Monday if you want it.

Actually the 2.8 laid down next to the 3.1 will be perfect for comparison sake. Please send it to me when you have time. :icon_biggrin:

I just had an idea after Adam and I were playing around with a performance 5-speed chip, then had an email with Josh about the "issues" with a 5-speed chip I currently have, and the fact that there was NO "true" 8f 5-speed chip ever created. Once I get the chips/.bins laid out I can see what it is that makes the TGP auto chip completely different from the TGP 5-speed currently used. Then move the appropriate settings over. ;) :icon_cool:

i hate to say it but i ended up putting Jay's chip back in the car :icon_redface:  it was constantly surging from 1500-1800 RPM while the car was moving when in neutral (like when coasting to a stoplight).  it would also rev up after each shift when i was accelerating up to the speed limit (sometimes shooting up ~1000 RPM higher when i put the clutch in to shift).

funny thing was about 10% of the time it would be "normal" - the idle wouldn't surge and it would go down to 900-1000 RPM when moving in neutral.  sometimes it wouldn't rev up between shifts either but most of the time it would and it just sorta drove me nuts after awhile.  i put about 250 miles on that chip so i'm pretty sure it had a chance to do the idle relearn...maybe not though?

though, Jay's chip has it's own problems of course.  the big issue i have with that chip is that the idle will start surging when i'm in neutral (but this time only when the car ISN'T moving :laugh: )  the idle will surge from almost killing the engine and then shoot up to 1000 RPM when i'm sitting in a drive-thru or at a stoplight.  usually i just tap the gas pedal and then it will idle just fine for about 15 seconds and start surging again.  on the other hand, the engine idled just fine when the car wasn't moving with your chip.  the speedometer is also 27% off with Jay's chip (it's dead-on accurate with yours) but that's easy enough to fix.

if there is one thing i regret about this LG5/282 project, it's not buying all of the datalogging & chip burning equiptment beforehand.

The chip I sent you is perfect in my car other than WOT.

We will get you straight Josh. No worries. I do need you to get a chip burner and a way to log the car. No two cars are the same and getting a generic chip will never work.

I am thinking about doing a chip for sale that people buy and then with logging and burning we can tweek it to that person's cars specs and make her run like a dream.

Will your brother let you use his laptop or no?

yeah i've been meaning to order the burner and get a laptop but i've been so busy buying other stuff trying to finish up the suspension/brakes on the TSTE.

i found out my brother sold his laptop :icon_sad:  what a bummer.  i don't know if i should try to find a used one on ebay or get a cheap new Dell from Wal-Mart or something.  i'm going to try to take care of that stuff this month for sure.
