Removing balance shafts for more oil and hp???

Anyone remove the balance shafts [if our cars have them]? I heard that they free up hp and make room for more oil. What's your opinions?

Null issue because our engines don't need them. Some 90 deg motors have them, but I would keep it if it had it. Of the engines with them, they are sooo much smoother. In theory I could see them sucking some power, but it doens't seem to hurt any of the motors with them in it.
