It is happening more and more often in the US with big companies. :ugone2far:

There was a $2,000,000 USD lawsuit filed by a person who had 40 years with a company here in Colorado Springs. They fired him 1 (ONE) stinking day before his anniversary with the company which in his hiring contract stated he would receive a $750,000 USD lump severance package, plus full pay and benefits for the remainder of his life because the unit he invented would make the company an estimated $500 Million USD (that was 40 years ago). It ended up making the company more than $2 Billion with the original invention/patent and other units that were born from the original design.

So without this guy and his invention/patent the company would never have gotten anywhere...yet to thank him they fired him ONE DAY before his anniversary and told him he would not receive the promised severance or benefits because he did not make it to the 40 year date.

The judge in the lawsuit (ended up in the Colorado Supreme court) awarded the man $200,000,000 (instead of $2 million initially asked for) plus the company has to send him a check for $1 everyday for the rest of the man's life so the company would not forget about the man who made their company! :icon_biggrin:
