I also found that the LS1 shims don't fit over the rear cylinder head valve guides!!!  But they dropped right on the fronts.

WTF?

Sorry to never update my own thread.  I finished and unfortunately it was a total waste of time: even with 190,000 miles on them, the original valve springs appear to have been performing equally well as the new LS1 valve springs.  I did not gain any horsepower and my peak HP RPM did not raise beyond the 4000 it was at before.  Maybe to 4100 now (but that's within the margin of error IMO).

Oh well, at least I know it's a variable now eliminated.

He posted some pictures in another thread somewhere showing that he still has the stock intake manifolds and all...so he still has the stock heads too. ;)

this is perhaps a stupid question, I know that these springs are stiffer than our stock springs, but what are the differences between LS1, LS2, and LS6 springs, is it just different spring ratings, if so what are they?

Yeah, I just couldn't figure out a way to work in the one member who claimed that adding a valance to his lightbulb kept it from overheating...

I've got LS6's installed on 3.1 heads. 60degreev6.com is a good resource for this topic.

not sure on the different spring rates. pretty sure ls6 is stiffest

those are all LSx parts. I'd bought a complete 16v set off a guy on ls1tech I believe. only the seats/shims were ordered from GMPD, i can't remember which motor they were for but i have the part number somewhere.

LS1, LS2, LS6 springs are ALL the same. Spring rate changes are MINIMAL between them!

I have a set of 23,000 mile LS1 springs with seats, retainers, and keepers on the bench if anyone is interested in buying them.
