i haven't really done anything to my Turbo Cutlass lately.  i haven't even driven it since March or so.  i tried to sell it to a friend, but he couldn't come up with the rest of the money he owed me so i took the car back.  untortunately it was abused for the month that he had it :icon_rolleyes:  he broke an axle right in half the first week he had it.  he even told me he had the car up to 148mph once.  jeez.  anyways, stuff i need to fix:

- replace the bump stops (it was riding on the KYB bump stops that were previously in the car - they were just too tall for the amount of drop the new Intrax springs provided)

- replace LIM since i stripped out one of the thermostat bolt holes (oops).  i'm going to install the 1.6 rocker arms while i'm at it.

- get the 282 resealed.  it's leaking fluid BAD from where the bellhousing meets the case.  i should probably upgrade the clutch while the trans is out.

i miss driving it!  i'm in the middle of doing a bunch of suspension stuff to my Regal (SSC lowering springs, KYB AGX adjustable struts, new KYB strut mounts, new motor/trans mounts, poly dogbone bushings etc).  hopefully i can start in on the Cutlass soon after the Regal is done.  i have the engine/trans ready to pull out, i just need to pull the hood off and hook up the hoist.

Well, here's an update of what's been replaced lately:

- Plugs, AC Delco Rapid Fire's
- MSD 8.5 mm Super Conductor Plug wires
- New coolant lines
- New Fuel Filter
- much more I forget right now.

Put exterior cleaning on hold because I was getting bored/tired of it, and started cleaning the interior. It's coming out great so far, the rear carpet/seats reallly cleaned up and the front doesn't look too bad. Also got more wiring done; I have wires for each fan running up to the center console, as well as the A/F gauge power wire. I cut the DIC ignition power wire too, they're all going to be on seperate switches in the spot where the ashtray's supposed to be. The DIC just gets way too annoying with the beeping sometimes lol. I need to finish wiring my A/F gauge out to the engine compartment, and I still need to hook up the power and the ground for my heated O2 sensor. My aftermarket radio's in (Sony MEX-BT2500) and my PAC 5 SWC adaptor is almost hardwired. Something's wrong with my factory amp though.

The amp was fine, then one I day I turned the (factory) radio off, and then back on a second later, and a deep annoying pulsing sound was coming from the rear speakers. I unplugged the amp and it went away. I plugged in the amp from the TGP and it sounds better than not having an amp, but it doesn't have all the channels that the STE one did. According to the FSM, the pins that are missing on the TGP one are the wires for the rear speakers in the STE  so I dunno if it was an amp or a wiring problem.

I also got my Moates USB data logging cable 8) but I haven't had a chance to give it a try yet.

Bumping this up again..

Since I last posted in here, I have done the following to my TGP:

Waxed and detailed the car probably 10-15 times
Let it sit for like 9 months
Tore most of the engine bay apart and CLEANED EVERYTHING
Took throttle body, upper intake manifold, lower intake manifold, and valve covers off (cleaned them and repainted the 3.1 Intercooled Turbo)
Installed NEW hydraulic lifters
Cleaned all pushrods and rocker arms in chemdip (no more varnish on the parts!)
Installed 1.6 rocker arms and guide plates
New lower intake gasket
New Upper intake gasket
New valve cover gaskets
New TB gasket
New knock sensor
New Crank Position Sensor
New ICM
New Coils
New Sparkplug Wires
New plugs AC/Delco R42LTS
New MAT sensor
New K&N with outerwear on turbo
New trans modulator & check valve
TB coolant bypass
Cleaned TB and sensors
Re-adjusted TV cable (shifting at 5,120 RPM FTW)
Removed original alternator and brought to local alternator shop, had them upgrade the internals to High amp 180-200 AMP
Installed heavy duty charge wiring from alt to battery
New ground cables
New Battery Cables
New Battery (again!  It has been fine now that grounds have been replaced)
New Power Steering Pump (wow x-laces are hard to turn with no PS in parking lots! :icon_eek: )
Coolant Flush
New ECM
KAZ Motorsports Hot Tune Chip
Installed Gen 1 DSM BOV
Removed Intercooler, all piping, and couplers and cleaned them.
Detailed Engine bay after final assembly

I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting...

Driven it 790 miles since top end rebuild and full tune-up.

overheated! :willynilly: major air in the system, come to find out the seal on top of the water pump is completely shot. Tranny is also either incredibly crappy as well, or I just have some major vacuum problems still, both are very possible. I have a 5 speed coming soon though, so that'll eliminate on part of that  :icon_mrgreen:

What did I do to my TGP recently?

Still trying to decide how I feel about that.

TGP Nick

I drove my TGP one last time today, then cleaned her up and parked her in the garage.  Will be putting it on jackstands, disconnecting the battery, and putting on the car cover tomorrow. :icon_sad:  It has been a fun 1,043.5 miles this summer on the fresh top end.  I'll be back for it in 20 months.

Time to bump this again. :icon_wink:

-Washed/waxed both TGP's.

-Fixed the passenger side hood louver on the red car(mounting tabs up front broke off). I made one new tab(from a 3/8'' x .171 x 1'' nylon spacer that I modded) and reused one of the original tabs. I epoxied them to the louver with some 5 minute Permatex "permapoxy." I've open/shut the hood about 10 times since and the tabs are still holding strong. If anyone wants more info on fixing them, let me know. Now I need to remove the driver's side louver and repair the crack in it...

-Fabricated a cold air intake modeled after Adam's(flybynite) for my red car. It's a *prototype* right now, I'm waiting on one mandrel bend to get here to completely finish it.

-In the process of installing a 91-93 style coolant overflow bottle. I have it installed now, I just need to drill and tap a hole in the strut tower to completely finish the installation. Right now I have a junkyard coolant bottle in the car, I'm going to order a new one from GM(if they still have them) as the old one looks horrible.

-AC "Fin mod" on the red car.

-Cleaned out the intercooler. It wasn't really dirty at all to begin with. :icon_razz:
