Yes, but Jeff's VIN is NOT the same as mine. He listed a 5 I believe, and mine has a 7. Either way, his listed is damn close to mine, but not mine.

Same vin, but he had the wrong check digit. 7 it is! :icon_mrgreen:

This radio station was renamed Krenzy in honor of the last American hero to whom speed means freedom of the soul. The question is not when he's gonna stop, but who is gonna stop him.

Mine is an 1989 TGP with vin 1G5WP14V0KF284XXX. When we bough the car new it already had 3000 miles on it and papers in the glovebox where it had been to different GM facilities and signed off for transfer by GM management. Don't know how early in the production of these cars mine is though. :icon_confused:

That's an early production car and probably the first one we have a record of.

1G5WP14V0KF284920  = is that your full VIN? VIN's are public information and nobody can do anything with your full number(if that's the reason you left out the last three digits).

How did you guess?  You are correct. I would love to know the true history of this car's build. Like I earlier said, when we bought it
it had 3000 miles on it but had never been titled. Also, the cars speedo goes only up to 120 MPH but the HUD goes highter. Our car used to peg the speedo but the heads up would show 145MPH at top speed. The car started having driveability issues and they
replaced th EEPROM at the dealership. After the prom was replaced it would only do 128MPH. We tried to find out what the original prom number and program was but GM said the guy that designed the chip had died and they had no info for us. Very interesting, though.

RICHTGP - what's the build date shown on your driver door sticker? It sounds like you got one of the early 4T60s that was actually able to shift into 4th at WOT [/quote]

Date of Mfg was 2/17/1989.  First time the EEPROM was replaced was in 1994 and again in 2002.

i know i gave my vin to someone once, but here it is again:

Going by the 10th digit of your VIN yours is a 1990 and even though it's a 27 it is not an earlier model.

Oops, I accidentally deleted part of your post above Tony. I didn't realize that I hit "modify" instead of "quote" until it was too late. :icon_redface:

Anyways....His car might be the first ever production model TGP! He has the lowest VIN number and Ken hasn't come across any lower than that. Even if it isn't the first, it's one of the first few...
