Seems low in comparison, does that have something to do with a sequence # or production date?

Wow you have the lowest TGP Vin as of YET.

that means yours is older

the lower the number the sooner in the model year it was made.

it sounds like maybe Pontiac just took GP coupes/STE's off of the assembly line randomly by color, option etc.  they obviously didn't make 1000 STE's or 3500 TGP coupes in sequence and then ship them all to ASC.  which sucks.  it would have been cool if they made the TGP's with numbered dash plaques with an ASC/Mclaren logo or something....kind of like what Shelby American did to the 'real' turbo dodge's back in the 80's.  when my brother bought his '87 Shelby Lancer, it didn't have the dash plaque, so in order to tell what number the car was, he sent his VIN# into a Shelby registery site on the internet.  he found that his car was actually #127 of 780 built.  he has since found another dash plaque, but unfortunately it is from car #104 (RIP).  sorry for the long post...

Yes that is my V.I.N. 1G5WP14V9LF211000
I don't mind displaying the whole number. Its not like I don't have the car and the title. Besides we are family here. Is this low?

I have to agree with the previous post about badging and numbering of these cars. Its a shame Pontiac or McLaren didn't badge and number them. It would have helped with the collectability, intrigue and value
of the turbo Grand Prix. A simple badge with a manufacture number would have been ideal. I had a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 once. It
had a numbered badge on the dash. The car was cool enough but the
fact that they numbered and produced only a limited number of the AWD
4WS turbo 4dr sedans made it desireable to a certian market. Our cars seem like Pontiac ran them through at random, not caring or thinking the
car might have a following.

Jeorge

the Reason they did not have a Plaque or anything.

because they did not know how many they where going to make they where special order thats why. they did not know howmany where going to be ordered.

HOW ever they should have kept a better Record of the Vins and numbers. that they sent out.

Even though they didn't know how many were going to be ordered, It makes even more sense to number each one, Special order or not. That's
my thought anyway. I mean This car was shipped from Pontiac incomplete. I would think, no matter how high up on the food chain you are at Pontiac, You need certian info for the company and the consumers
to refrence. That is unless your project was a big flop and you hoped to forget about the ASC McLaren Grand Prixs. If the truth was to be known, there probably isn't anyone living that knows exactly how many cars were made in what color and option combo.

thats what I get untill I go to get a Dealer part and they ask for my VIN LOL then its like thats not a valid vin

I know what your saying why could they not keep record but some where someone did.

i'm sure ASC or McLaren has the records somewhere.  has anyone ever tried contacting them about it?  i would try, but i don't even have a TGP.  i've seen McLaren convertible mustangs on ebay and apparantly they are numbered.

I would be surprised if either company had records. I don't think the Turbo Grand Prix is one of McLarens more proud moments. I think it is a cool car now but look at the money people were paying for these cars back in 1990. For $25,000- $27,000 range your options for a Sports or Luxury car were wide and I mean wide open. It took a real Pontiac enthusiast or someone with alot of curiosity to buy one of these cars back then in my opinion. I'm sure too, it cost alot to build. Pricing had to play a factor in its short production run. It sure would have been nice though to have a numbered badge.  Hell, I'd be happy with a special Turbo Grand Prix specific McLaren decal. The fact is, McLarens name isn't even on the window sticker. It does show up on the title in the state of Georgia though.
Pontiac Grand Prix MC.   You just have to know what MC mean.

Sorry I am going to vent a bit.. When I bought my TGP in 1993 the sales men told me it was just a gt version... I feel as though that we have been some how left out.. that us TGP owners have been put out to the cold.  If I owned a company that made a product I would have made damm sure that the records were accesible to the owners.  But if you think about it this situation is not out of GM's normal ideals of running a company.  They have no respect for customers that purchase their product.  I love my car..  I am sure everyone feels the same.. sure now and then we hate them cause of little problems that pop up... They are great cars Fast cars.. I just think that GM and McLaren let the owners down..  sorry if I sound soup boxy.. I just think that its so hard to find parts and everyone thinks our cars are the same as the normal GP's and that you have to argue with some one to explain your car is different is crappy.. I guess that is life.. anything good is not easy... KCP

Those McLaren decals look nice. How do they look on the windshield? I assume that's the place for them being 24" long. I want one.

How or where do I send my money?
