Okay my TGP used to do this every once in a while, but today, it did it every time I drove it today.  What it is doing is: every time I let off the gas and step on the brakes (like coming to a light), just before I come to a stop, it will jerk forward and make a loud CLUNK.  What is this?  Is it my torque converter?  How do I fix this?

Could be motor mounts. Every time I let off the gas in the CS I can feel the engine heave itself forward. It needs a new lower mount BAD.

Does the car jerk forward or does it just make a thump when it downshifts to a stop?  If the lower motor mount is bad it will thump everytime it downshifts.  I had that problem for a while...

TGP Nick

Okay, so my motor mounts are bad, maybe they just totally went yesterday, and I am noticing the clunk.  Yes it jerks forward a little bit, but then again, my stock dogbones are shot also.  Also I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM THAT STARTED YESTERDAY AND CONTINUED TODAY: After I am at a stopsign/stoplight, I give it some gas, and before it would just take off like normal, BUT NOW when I step on the gas after a stop, it revs up for a second, then takes off like something is slipping.  What gives??!!

Nick, can you describe what you mean by slipping? Describe exactly what happens.

This radio station was renamed Krenzy in honor of the last American hero to whom speed means freedom of the soul. The question is not when he's gonna stop, but who is gonna stop him.

TGP Nick

Okay after I stop at a stopsign/stoplight, I step on the gas, and it revs up, then after a second, it starts moving.  As before I would step on the gas and it would just go, no delay.  I replaced my tranny check valve the day before it started doing this.  I think it is on correctly also.  Any ideas?

Did you check fluid level? When was last time the filter and pan fluid were done?

Are you sure it is not starting off in Second Gear? My TSTE does that when it is cold. Pull the shift lever down into 1st when it does that to see if it all of a sudden takes off.

TGP Nick

The tranny is fairly new.  It only has about 13,000 miles on it, the fluid is red, and after reading a post that Jeff M. said you can run 2 quarts over full, I added an extra quart to see if the slipping would go away.

Okay you know how when ur driving a stick, you let out the clutch slowly with your foot on the gas to go from a stopsign/stoplight, and you are slipping the clutch a little; THAT EXACTLY DESCRIBES WHAT MY TRANNY IS DOING!!!  Any ideas of what may be causing this new problem?

Torque converter is what I am thinking. I dont know what the thing is called, but it sounds like it isnt doing it job. I just watched a show about trannys damnit, wish I could remember what its called...

I wont lie, I am not that well versed into transmissions. But from my reading, and what knoledge I do have, its either the tranny is going, or the TQ converter is going/gone.

What the hell!  Trannies really should last more than 13,000 miles.  Is there anything I can do?

well, if the thing still drives, then change the tranny filter and then get it flushed by a snap-on tranny flusher. in that order. make sure its a snap-on one so it uses the trannys existing pump and doesnt force fluid through your tranny and blowing out seals. #1 way to save tranny= change filter+motor mount.

Alright GangsTGP, I'll do that later this week when I have money lol.  Until then, she will sit in my garage, so I don't do any damage until then.  :icon_cool:

it should be able to limp here and there, just dont get on it until theres fresh fluid and a mount.
