What Fuel Injectors Do i Need???

Im trying to figure out what injectors my stock TGP uses.  Where do i get them ?  How much $$ is a new set?

Talk to Bruce. Let him know what you have and he will guide you. A few members have used 3800 series injectors from the N/A Riviera's. I got a set of Yellow Top Ford Racing injectors with comparible LG5 flow rates and pressure and they work WONDERFUL! Talk to Bruce he will guide you. Let him know that TGPForums sent you! ;)

i guess Five0Motorsports must have raised their prices.  a NEW set of Ford Racing Yellow Top Injectors is now 239.50.

while i'm at it, i thought i'd ask about the 19lb Yellow "Design-III" injectors that Five0Motorsports sells:

they only charge $10 more for these than the Yellow Tops and supposedly the "Design-III" have a better spray pattern.  the injector connector looks the same, but obviously the body of the injector looks quite a bit different.  would they work without modification in a TGP (besides tuning) like the Yellow Tops do?  ie ohm rating, fitment etc.

also...can someone tell me again what the lb rating would be at our fuel pressure?  i'm assuming it's around 22lbs?

scroll down and look and on the left side of the screen it shows the price for sets of Yellow Top injectors:

- 8 injectors - $289.50
- 6 injectors - $239.50
- 4 injectors - $159.50

am i looking at the wrong injectors?

A lot of the sets of 6 injectors are listed for "Ford Ranger 4.0 V6's." A LOT of Fords use the 19#'ers. I looked real quick and they're ~$190shipped now.

I'm not sure if the Design III's would offer any  *noticeable* benefits. They can be used in our cars though, I compared ohm ratings, connectors, overall length, etc. on them at the junkyard last time I was there. I might buy the low mileage set of Design III's at my local yard if they're still there when I go again..they had only ~50,000 miles on them.

thank guys.  i guess i was a little confused from reading their website.  injectors aren't something i've researched much for thise cars.  unfortunately i can't afford injectors for another couple months...just searching around seeing what it's going to cost me etc.

the 19lb Yellow Tops sound like the way to go though.

If you need a temp fix, find a junkyard and find some injectors off a gen 2 3800/3.8 and grab the injectors. Shouldnt cost you more than 20 or so bucks, or you might be able to put em in your pocket for that matter, and good for a temp fix if you really need them. Just make sure the O-rings are in good shape befor install, and if any one of them look at all questionable, replace the o-ring. Some would recomend replacing all of them. I didnt opn my first go with the gen 2 injectors, and ran fine for 2 months befor I got a new set for 20 bucks with o-rings.

With the yellow's do you have any rail mount problems?  I had to do a bunch of custom work (and never finished) to get the L36 injectors to mount up, they are shorter than the OEM's.  Oh, and BTW, I almost started an engine fire once because I used the old O-rings.  They looked okay, then when I applied rail pressure, they leaked like a stuck pig.  I pulled them back out and let them sit...  Once they dried up, they looked like a 75 year old 'gina.  Cracked and all other various types of yuckiness.  From then on I never re-use a set, just my $1/50th.

The yellow tops went into position perfectly. I seated them in the fuel rail first with the clip in the top slot position to make sure they where sealed on the pressure side. Then they went into the bore of the injector port in the intake about 1/4" deep. They are well sealed as long as they are in at least 1/8". Remember the intake is 100% vacuum there when the pulses go by. No pressure to push them out. The fuel rail needs to be fully seated because of the pressure there, but if the clips are in place they will not move.

Were you able to mount the rail mounts?  That was the problem I had, everything went together fine, and I drove it for 6 months or so like that (albeit, only maybe 400 miles)  Jeff even assured me he's had to do that for long terms, and not had any problems.

Completely bolted in without issue or bending tabs to make it work. Literally like a stock replacement.

The injector seat bore going into the manifold is machined about 1" deep. If the injector is longer than the stock then it should have plenty of room to further go into the intake stream.

That was not an issue with the yellow tops though....they dropped right in without issue on the top clip slot. I was actually concerned with the injector spray hitting the walls of the injector bore and condensing before it hit the air stream...I pulled them and checked and it was not an issue.
