figured i throw it out there i got  the 90 tgp 5 speed owned by some on the site before and was wondering if you have had a problem of no power past 3000rpm?
it seems like a dead miss on all 6 or boost blowing in the cylinder and out like a valve float issue

any one have this problem before

Matt is it, I also have a 5speed 90' TGP and I have never had this problem. I would consider at least finding out first if you can even make boost by taking the vacuum line off the wastegate, just to make sure you can make boost. But be very carefull not to over boost, you can easily damage some stuff. From there you can then check for codes that could be holding the computer back for allowing boost. Let us know what you find, Thanks Jimmy,

i got boost the only time it does it is at WOT.  it almost seems like the spark is cutting out.

do you have a fuel pressure gauge so that you can hook it up and go for a ride while watching it? Pressure might be dropping off under load.

not handy til monday but it doesent do it at all if you ease on the throttle in 2nd and third until you hit WOT then it bogs and sounds like a machine gun?

Prospeeder

you dont have the stock airbox in thier still do u??? I had the same issue with the original airbox collapsing and strangling the engine at high RPMs and boost

I sure wish you can change that wastegate real quick to see if that could be your culpret. So what part in the car is making this machine gun sound.

i was driving it today alot and it dose when you get full boost if feels and sounds like its missing firing really bad. so we are going to gap the the plugs latter this weekend see if that helps. my friends DSM did the same thing tell we change the wires and plugs.

David_315

well we replaced the plugs and that fixed

TGPilot

Like I told you before. The flame was being blown out.

What did you gap the plugs to when you put them in?

The wires on that car are getting some good miles on them now so you may want to look into a set soon. ONLY USE GM WIRES! Not the cheng shin pieces of shit from checker! ;)

i was thinking about geting Jacobs wires or Taylor wires. or is that a big no no?

Alot of the turbo dodge guys are running the magnecore wires and some are now running the aurora wires. Aurora is in Canada so they should be easier for the guys up there to save some shipping duties. I have the 8.5 mm magnecore on one of my R/Ts and the other had the 10 mm on it when I bought it. We put the 8.5 mm Aurora on Jimmys TGP when we did the 5 sp swap. From what I read on both sites both companys wires are built pretty much the same.

after a some reading i don't really think i need a 10mm wire. but the 8.5 seems something more i could use. how dose he like the Aurora wires?
what wires are other people running? i just don't want to do a impales buy.

I personally love them, they sure look alot healthier than the ones that came stock, but I won't know for sure what performance gains I get out of them untill I change the ICM and coils, their still giving me problems. Jimmy

David_315

that sucks. what do you all have done to your car? so of now we are starting to put 3inch exost on it. that should help it some. 3inch with no mufflers should be ok for now. then all i have left is a frount mount and turbo rebuild. then i am going to start working on geting the car repainted
