The Right Brain vs. Left Brain

I found that on another forum and it was interesting to read the replies that people posted to it. Which way do you initially see the dancer moving in the picture? Can you make it switch directions? If so, how? Click the link before reading my reply below so that it doesn't influence your initial perception of how the dancer is turning.

For me, the dancer was turning clockwise when I initially saw it. Simply thinking about making it turn the opposite direction did not work for me. I had to focus on another part of the page and/or see the picture in my peripheral vision for it to turn the opposite direction. After that, it would stay turning in the opposite direction until I shifted my focus again to another part of the page. From the descriptions of the left & right part of the brain, I assumed I would have seen it turning counter-clockwise to begin with.

When I first looked at it, it was turning clockwise. Realizing it was an optical illusion, I closed my eyes, shoke my head, and looked again, and it turned counter-clockwise.

What was trippy for me was I would look at it, and it was changing direction while I was looking at it, when I wasnt even really concentrateing on it.

whoa!  i looked again after focusing on another part of the page and she was spinning anti-clockwise!  right while i was looking at it she changed directions.  crazy stuff.

Whoa that was pretty trippy.. I looked at it for 30 seconds and she was turning clockwise, then she started going counterclockwise and changing directions while I was just watching.. I wasn't even concentrating on it or anything  :laugh:  Crazy!
