HOLY FIRE UNDER THE HOOD THERE, BATMAN?

Lol...why is it that alot of TGP's were only painted so much under the hood, i.e., the gray primer spot?

I know another forum members' has the primer, but mine is painted underneath...although the hood was repainted, but I didn't think they'd paint underneath.

I think I'll still put a new insulator on, I'm worried about the heat dis-coloring the paint on the hood, didn't realize but the hood is fibreglass with a steel frame.

Going to call GM 2day to see how much for a new insulator.

Someone posted in another thread that the insulator is no longer available (surprise surprise). But a standard one is available, and you can trim it down to what you need I would think.

Yeah I posted that, but feel free to call and ask. If you somehow locate one, please let us know!

The hood is fiberglass? Thats news to me, mine's 100% steel. Did you paint over those VIN stickers?

I bought one of those standard insulators from GM and trimmed it. It turned out nicely.

Called a Pontiac dealer today, they said they do not make any Grand Prix insulators older than 1997 they wanted $137 for a 1997 one.

Matt, no I masked the VIN numbers, didn't take the tape off in the picture. Was yours off a standard GP? It looks good!

And here it is!
I wonder why the factory did that?
