Just wondering who has the fastest 1/4 mile ET in a TGP. Thanks for any info..

turby

Jeff M. has the fastest. I haven't heard of any faster. I believe he hit high 13's.

mfewtrail

thanks for the reply.....although I'm sure MANY people could pass 13's with the TGP's with maybe a turbo upgrade a other mods.....I'm planning on getting a TGP and doing enough stuff to possibly get it running mid 12's

There would be a few things to help get these cars into the 11's.
1) Diet!! These things are Heavy! They are built to be sport- luxury cars so they have power and comfort.

2) Build the sht outtta the tranny or swap to a manual. The trans in these things is a really weak link, and I think any more than 350 hp on a stock auto would tear it apart.

3) Consider aftermarket engine management. It's not as hard to install an AEM ecs into a custom application as people think. I will be dropping one into my TGP as soon as the motor and tranny are done.
*****No Offense Jeff, you have a killer chip*******    The AEM unit provides the ability to tune the system exactly to the setup being run in the specific car. I ahve run the system in a couple custmo apps from turbo daytons to a turbo'd tpi 350 in an 89 GTA Trans Am with killer results.

4) Upgrade the turbo to a hybrid or aftermarket. The T-25 has great spool, but it doesnt put out much for cfm. For a higher power motor, it will need to be able to make the same boost levels with a larger amount of air.

5) Upgrade the IC and install hard pipes and a Blow Off Valve. Hard pipes will have better flow and the bov will help keep the turbo spooled and help reduce boost spike.

Our shop is going to try to get the TGP to run with our dsm, which before the engine blew was running 12.0 on stock internals.   keep in mind, that cars bottom end had 191,000 miles on it.... hehehe

I will keep everyone posted as to how we do. Keep in mind, this car is a daily driver, so we are gonig to keep it as close to stock comfrt as we can.

No such thing as idiot q's.

Hard pipes are replacement pipes for the rubber hoses that go fom intake, to turbo, to IC, to Throtle body. The TGP I have had the hard pipe part of the way to the throttle body, but the rest are all SOFT rubber. They work, but only marginally. With hard pipes, it basically puts mandrel bent aluminum or stainless pipe in place, only using the rubber to connect to the respective components. It flows better and the pipes dont suck themselves in(if you could watch under the hood under hard boost, you could actually see the rubber hose going to the turbo suck itself in, and if its older, may even nearly colapse.)

With hard pipes, would you still leave the flexible part for rotating the engine?

Many different factors in the miles per hour, eveything from wheel spin to topend. My TGP very rarely looses off the line, but I'm fighting to keep my lead at the end of the quarter! I never saw Mike race his car, but I do many of his runs that he scanned for me so I could help him figure out his launches. :drinking:
