Corvettes are for unimaginative old men

I know this is a TGP forum site, and I'm new here, and I don't want to offend anyone, but I just have to say this: the Corvette is an unstylish, WAY overpriced, unimaginative, old man's car. It's not that I "dislike" them. What I'm saying is that when you go to any off-the-road car show, if there are 100 cars there, 85 are Corvettes, 10 are Mustangs, and 5 are "racing" Civics. People have so little imagination that they've turned the Corvette into a common car. How many F- and rare W-bodies have you ever seen at a common off-the-road car show? Maybe 1? I'm sure I can't count it on two hands. I was surprised and impressed to see a '90 Buick Reatta at a local car show in Utica, NY. While all the other drones were drooling over a Corvette they've seen 94 different times that same hour, I'm looking at a piece of RARE equipment... I mean the Reatta is a car you see just as much (if not less) than a TGP. It had a touch-screen dash, storage back seats - a real "different" car - UNLIKE the Corvette. Every time I see smug Corvette drivers do their queer little "headlight flip" when passing each other, I cringe at their utter stupidity. MOST - not all - but WELL over 60 percent of Corvette drivers don't ever plan on using their 8 cylinders in any situation. If there was a 1987 Trans Am GTA right next to a 2007 Corvette, and I got to drive away in one... EVERY SINGLE TIME, I would take the GTA. I own a 2000 Trans Am Firehawk - not THAT rare of a car, but rare enough. I've honestly only seen two other Firehawks besides mine in real life (1 in NY and 1 in CA), and the one in NY was salvaged. Now I'm looking for a TGP. Basically, in my opinion, buying a Corvette is like saying, "Well, I'm boring and unimaginative, plus I'm getting old, and I want to spend way too much money on a common car." Again, this is not to be pointed at anyone personally, but it kind of IS the truth. Be different - go against "society" and status quo, and buy something with meaning, instead of popularity.

I have to agree for the most part. The new Vettes look like Camaros, now that they have done away with the flip headlights. Its either they have a thing for being un-imagineitive, or we are glutton for punishment when we look to the aftermarket for "mods". To be honest, I wish I had the aftermarket that some of the other cars we have. This one off shit, where you, and maybe 20 other people nationwide have (AWebs door sills/RSTB for example), is getting annoying.

But at the same time, we have a passion for cars. I like knowing that there is probly only 700 TGP's left on the road. And I own 1 of them.
Same goes for my STE AWD
I dont want something that every other car owner/driver has driven, owned, wrecked, whatever. The TGP is truly a niche crowd.

But I also had to get into the run of the mill, with the Subaru Tribeca. But at least I can drive thru 5 states, and maybe see 5 of them along the way.

Hey im not getting old man im 21, did you expect anyone on this forum to even have a vette? Now i gota stick up for ol yeller. Ive never had a car that i didnt hold flat out every single time i drove it.

Sorry, it's just a personal pet peave to me. Around here, in Central New York, YOU WILL NEVER SEE a Corvette lose pavement. And to be honest, the older ones are more of an appreciation. I'm just SICK of seeing brand new ones that people think are unique.

Ike drives everything like he stole it. He rides around with his fingers out the window like this :flipa: On another note the later model Corvetts have made me lots of money. :gr_grin:

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. The only way I'd drive a Corvette is if I stole it... or if someone paid me.
