We got hit pretty hard with a big snowstorm today, up in my area we got several inches of snow. All this was coming down as freezing rain/snow mix and turned to a icy slush on the roads.  SO I had my first ever going into the ditch experience.
I'm going 45 MPH along this road while this truck is tailgating me and I start to catch this big patch of icy slush.  Then the car loses traction in the rear end and I start sliding sideways toward the ditch.  I corrected the car and got it going straight into the ditch so I dont roll the thing..  Then I see that going into the ditch is inevitable, so I let off the brakes and floor it.  This ditch is a good 20-30 foot drop from the road and pretty steep.  I see the driveway on the other side of the ditch and hoping by flooring it, I would make it.  I made it all the way down and back up the ditch again.. only to lose traction 5 feet from the driveway.  I stop and the dipshit in the truck that was tailgating me didnt even stop to get out and see if I was ok or anything.. or offer me a hand out of the ditch, so I called up a friend and we pushed the car out.  There is no damage to the car that I could see, but it was pulling pretty hard to the left on the way home, I had to hold the steering wheel at a 45* angle to get the car to go straight.  The frame cradle was resting on the ground when I was in the ditch, so I wouldn't be surprised if it needs a front-end alignment.  Ah well thats what happens when you slide sideways for a while and hit a big ditch at 45 MPH..  So yeah I'm home now and the car seems to be alright.  I took the pictures from the driveway, so the slope looks a lot less steep than it actually was.  To top it off, there were a bunch of plastic culverts and construction debris I ran over in the ditch.. ditch was full of mud and ice too..
I'm just glad I was able to get it straight and didnt roll.
Here are a couple pics I snapped in the ditch.

I'm pissed that the car was clean 24 hours ago:

To quote parts of a Lewis Black standup:

One day it was 60, the next it was 25, then 42, then 10, then 71....AND MY BALLS CAN'T TAKE IT! Big, then small, big, small, big, small....

Funny thing, no snow in upstate ny.  Sorry about the SE nick I"m sure she is ok probably just needs to be lined up again.  Might have shifted the cradle, check the bolts going into the body before getting it lined up.  These are tough cars.

Tim, Nick, Kyle and others that lived up there, I gotta give it to all you all. I don't see how you stand it  :dunno:

Personally I can't. Although, it did give me perfect perspective on what I want to do in my life:

I want to be a bear. Because bears are more evolved. It gets cold and the bear goes "I'm going to bed!! This blows!".

If I could afford to quit my job, pay my loan, and mvoe to a sunny sunny state....and convice Andrea to come with...I would in a heartbeat. Although, once global warming really kicks in, we should have gulf coast temps here while everyone below the Mason Dixon line fries so it works out.

Seriously, someone please download or buy Lewis Black's "Rules of Enragement". It's recorded in MN, and he goes off about how stupid we are for living here. "If I were you, I'd be calling a congressman or someone and saying 'Get me the hell outta here!' I mean, you live in a cold where people just shouldn't be living, and it's not testiment to the human will --- it's fucking stupid."

LOL!

Makes winter so much more enjoyable. By the way, I think I may be on crack?

Sorry but I disagree.  I don't love winter.....I like it for a while.  But I lived down south and let me tell you when you can't touch anything in August because it is so fuggin hot you can't move without sweating yourself through.........no thanks, here in upstate NY a nice mild 75 - 80 with a cool breeze.  Totally comfortable.  Only a handful of +90 degree days.  Cars love the cold air.... I'm staying there is nothing to offer me down south! Been there done that!
