I want to buy a factory "CD PLAYER" stereo headunit for my 1990 Mclaren TSTE.
reason being - I just bought Brand New steering wheel controls and they wont work withg a 1999 Grand Prix CD Player.
I want everything to remain stock inside without any modifications.

so if you have a stereo the "will fit" my 90 TSTE please let me know!

I'd rather not spend more than 10-20 bucks on a pre 97 stereo. so that's about what my budget will be then.
Thanks!

Well, I have the same identical stereo only it came from a 91 GTP. It's the same stock CD player, only I've never hooked it up. Seller told me it works fine and I have no reason to doubt it. I was going to hold onto it for when I wanted to put my car back to stock and have a stock CD player, but I'd be willing to part with it for $40+shipping. I bought it for over $50+shipping a month ago.

10-20 bucks? HAH!!! No offense man. I have 5 working TGP style cd players. I wouldnt sell them for less than 75 a peice plus shipping. Grinders, if yours is working, and you can verify it, I would suggest you bump your price. I have seen these radios in non-working format selling for 40 bucks on ebay.

I can't verify it, and I don't really wanna pull my current stereo out to try it...it's an aftermarket one in there and kind of crammed lol. That's the reason for the low price.

I'm with Brian on this one.. If Grinders' stereo completely works, than you are getting a hell of a deal.. otherwise you probably will be far fetched to find a fully working one that sells for under $70

#5
Sell it for more grinders, and offer a refund if it dont work.. Then sell it for 20 bucks. The guy needing it, if his works, he can take his cd drive unit, and put it in your, and have a working one.

Well, if Steve wants it for that price, I'll sell it. If not, I'll keep it. Like I said, it's just sitting on a shelf in my garage, waiting for me to go to a stock appearance. I don't need to sell it, but don't care if it does sell.

Yeah IF. As I stated, I can't verify it, but I have no reason to doubt the seller. And if it doesn't work, there's a guy in town who rebuilds car stereos, so I figured that when I decided to install it, I'd bring him this cd player and one of my spare newer aftermarket ones, so he can install a CD reader that reads MP3 cds, and install an IPod dock.

I saw one from a low mileage STE on ebay go for like $275 plus shipping.  The f body crowd is willing to pay big for the grand pooba CD player.  Definately a super nice piece.  You can take the drive section from a late model S10 cd player and swap it in and then it will play cdrs..........Just my input as usual!

Thanks for the input. I'm going to withdraw my ad from here, unless Steve PM's me about it. I'll just hang onto it until I either use it or need to part with it.

BUMP for Steve needing a CD player.

I do most of my vbuying/selling on ebay, and I can't find any 1988-1996 CD players for under $70 so once again you amaze me Grinders!!! I'll have to get back to you. I'm currently wiring up the 99 CD player, but if it doesn't work out I'm hittin you up for sure.
I also sent you a PM regarding the car.
Thanks!

EliteTGP

This is my 1st ever post here in the TGP Forums! I never got an e-mail letting me know if I've been approved as a member (I applied for membership May 28th), but as I'm posting this now, I guess all is good in that regard!

I'm an otherwise *very happy* TGP owner all the way from Finland (I purchased my TGP from Switzerland 2 years ago), but I *DESPERATELY* need to buy a stock radio for my TGP, preferably a CD version. I currently have *no radio* at all in my car whatsoever since the original stock cassette radio was completely broken when I purchased the car :-(

I have absolutely no idea which model sold on eBay could/would fit my 1990 TGP, but member pontiac6ksteawd here said he has "5 working TGP style cd players", does he mean he has the stock version?

And just like Bullet, who started this precious thread, I really want to buy a stock factory unit that came with the original car and can be operated with the steering wheel controls.

I am willing to pay top dollar for this and can pay via Paypal, or Personal Check, Wire Transfer, or even sen US cash in a letter -- I don't care, I just have to have this thing.

I am an honest buyer who can be trusted, I have an eBay account with a 212 all-positive feedback record.

Please someone, let me know if you can help. At least let me know what model currently on eBay I should buy, if you can't help me directly.

Thank you very much for your time in any case....!

Bullet

yes, TGP style = stock for 89-90 TGP's and TSTE's
I no longer need one though, because I sold my TSTE to my friend shifter23

When I get some time this weekend EliteTGP, I will scour thru ebay, and see if I can find you a CD player that will work in your TGP, with the steering wheel controls. Question thou, do you want the exact radio that will work in your TGP, or just one that works? Also, do you have a 89 or 90, makes a big diference.

Welcome to another out of the US TGP. Welcome indeed.
