I thought they keyless entry was standard, but I still don't know the ins and outs of TGPs like I know Cutlass convertibles. As far as I know though, if yours came with it, you just need a stock remote and you can ground a plug in the trunk to reset the system to work with your remote. I havent had a chance to really test mine, but it seems to send signal once (dead battery)

The unit is under the cover that covers your rear speakers. There is a wire in the trunk near the trunk hinge. I think passender side don't quote me on that. I only work on Jimmys TGP and don't have one. Yes it came on all TGP's

yes, passenger side, under the carpet kinda by the antenna, I believe red single wire with a plug looking thing on it. ground that out for a few seconds and you should hear your locks cycle. Then you should be able to press a button on a new remote and have it link to that one.

holy hell that's great, I had no idea...lol
Maybe that would explain why my doors used to randomly lock or unlock and the trunk was randomly open on some occasions, I just unplugged the remote release on the trunk at that point...So... could I use the keyless entry remote from my malbu and reprogram that one to work with it :icon_question:

I just went and looked and didn't see a red wire, but I did however see a black one with a connector end on it just hanging there, I can get a pic up tomorrow... it came out of the same loom that went to the power antenna it seemed.

Yep. That's the one. Black wire with a connector on the end. Near the antenna.

any 1g remote should work, so a malibu one probably wont

Since you have no remotes with your car, it's very likely that the remote keyless entry module might be dead. The one in my Red car is dead. :icon_cry: I'm going to remove it, disassemble it, and resolder the entire thing.

This page has some info on the module and about repairing it by resoldering it.

well idk for sure, it was a salvage vehicle when I got it, so it may have just been lost in the process, my friend might have his remote so I will test it when he finds it.

Ground that wire, and see if your locks cycle. Thats the first test to see if you have a dead unit or not.
