Nissan GT-R's at dragstrip

Here are some example times of a showroom stock nissan gt-r.  Needless to say I'm am less than impressed with the times especially with AWD and launch control.  Just goes to show you cannot substitute for the driver mod.  Further that eventhough a 115 mph trap speed indicates high 11's if you can't get out the hole....

Also the story on page 2 about nissan voiding the transmission warrenty due to turning off launch control?  WTF, and $20k for a replacement tranny?  Jesus I can't count how many terminators with blown up rear ends and engines were covered under ford's warrenty.  More reason to stay domestic the Blue Oval and GM have got your back for the most part.  80k racecar with a weak transmission that cannot handle stock boost levels.  Sorry but this is one loser car I am not envious of!

it actually says void warranty on it, unreal!  I would have left it at the dealership if I saw that!

I read about this a couple of days ago. :laugh: Looks like Nissan didn't do a good job of coupling the engine to a trans that would hold up to the stock *underrated* power levels. $20K for a replacement transmission is insane. For $20K, they could ditch the auto altogether + do plenty of upgrades... :laugh:

I'm pretty sure that is photochopped but funny as hell nonetheless.  Yeah 20k is a lot and for the price of the car you would think you would get a little extra warrenty coverage for it being a race car.

My cobra's supplemental manual actually tells you how to modify the car if you are going to race it, including how to install a rear differential cooler.  they do mention this will void your warrenty and also state that this modification will help the durability of the diff during track events which should prevent a warrenty claim ;) 

Now that is the kind of thing you would expect on a high priced factory race car.  What a letdown.
