Hey everyone

Hoping I can get some advice.  I am currently looking to purchase a 90 TGP.  Its very clean with under 70K on the clock, however there is an issue with the ABS module.  They said if it is plugged in, it drains the battery.  If they disconnect it, it affects the braking system.  Does anyone know if this part can be rebuilt or can a new module be purchased?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a short in the module causing it to drain the battery... that would be my first guess.

Rockauto.com has one remanufactured ABS module in stock for $118. That's a "wholesaler closeout" and it only carries a 30 day warranty. They're regularly $278.99 w/ core charge.

If you make a "want to buy" type post in the for sale section, you might be able to find a good used abs module for cheap from someone here. Also check out the sister forum @ www.w-body.com You might want to register there and make a duplicate "want to buy" post  as there's a much larger userbase and the forum is way more active than this one.

The OEM part number for the brake controller is 16159331 by the way. I did a quick search and it looks one place wants nearly $500 for them(if they even carry them anymore - they say call for availability). Your local dealership might be able to source them through vintage parts suppliers, but they'll probably want a small fortune for them. I would use that $500 price as a haggling point on the price for the TGP you're interested in by the way. ;)

Thank you both for your replies - the dealer is in the process of getting it fixed so we should be good to go :)  Thanks again!
