Sun Roof rust

Has any one addressed the rusty sun roof frame parts, mine has severe rust on the cross piece at the front of the slider on the inside, on another car I was able to remove the entire slider and sandblast the area and prime/paint, but I caught it before it was terrible. I have not tried to remove this slider yet, just wondering if it is worth trying to repair or better to replace. I expect a boneyard replacement would possibly have the same symptoms, but if anyone knows of a good replacement frame cheap, I might go that route.
