Hello, I just got a 1990 GPT about three weeks, after i traded my Chevy s10. it still drives good and almost all of the electronic bells and whistles still work. Other than some cosmetic work the car is in great shape. I am having a problem with it dieing on me sometimes when i drive slow, slow down or stop. I am not a mechanic and I know very little about these kinds of things. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problem and could help me out. Thanks.

Well, first, make sure theres no vacuum leak. Next see if the crossover pipe is original, if it is, its leaking, and that will cause the issue. Do some research in this site it will all become clear. Last, if those are taken care of, the stock chip has many faults and needs replaced with a retune. Flybynight is the guy to talk to, burned me a great chip. I have mine running very well with new injectors, crossover pipe, sensors, tune up stuff and, if i put the stock chip back in, dies randomly at slow speeds or putting it into reverse. Theres also service bullitins from GM saying replace with updated tune, which still were no good.

I rebuild the crossover pipes should you need to have your original one rebuilt.

i had a similar issue so i watched my air/fuel gauge and it was topping out (too lean) i think, this was on cold morning so i figured it was because i didn't let it warm up enough, but i haven't had this issue for awhile, also had this issue in a 94 gp se and we replaced the map sensor which i'm not sure if it helped but may be something to think about

Thank you all for the responses. i noticed that if i do let the car warm up first, that it doesnt die all the time. As soon as i get some money i plan on having well maintenance. I also noticed in all the pictures of everyone elses TGP that the Air intake cone comes right off the turbo. Mine is down in between the engine and the radiator. do you all think that doesnt matter or should i change it?
