Mr. Mod Man

I just did a tune-up on my TGP including the vacuum harness, t-valve, lots of sensors and other parts for the motor. I have not done a vacuum check yet, but boost gauge seems to be working right. Today is actually the first day it has been running anywhere close to acceptable in like 6 months! This is mainly because the sock fell off my new fuel pump, and the pump clogged up with debris from my dirty tank(took a while to realize this).

Does the TopGun 160 make your car run so cold that the heater blows only slightly warm air? Before I did all this work on it, the heater was almost uncomfortably hot. Now the vents dont work and it only will blow out the floor and the windshield.

Sounds like a vacuum leak making it blow out the defrosters and floor. Check and see if the cruise works.

i was gunna say that but i felt guilty for looking like i really knew that information when in reality i just learned that from brian a couple weeks ago

the cruise does not work either, forgot to mention that. What about the temperature though? Shouldn't it be hot if it is all the way into the red?

How old is the thermostat? Could possibly be stuck open.

Well, if the AC/heater control vents are not working then why not the temp setting?  These are all fed off the same vacuum line that is leaking.  Pull off the cruise control, the bugger for this is the delicate vacuum line going to it, be careful moving this when taking things off, also the electrical connector, fragile from heat.  Tough to get to the lower 10mm nuts, use a ? inch drive and a small 2 inch extension to reach in and unscrew the lower cruise control nut, let it fall off, leave it off later too as it?s a pain to get back on and I have done quite a few without this one nut with no problems as all, there is 2 more nuts at top that do the work, and the lower stud keeps things aligned perfect.  Remove the top two 10mm nuts then slide the cruise control out and up, set it up on the windshield out of the way.  Now look at where the hard plastic vacuum line that was plugged into the cruise control goes down and find the cracked rubber T there that it plugs into, this is a common problem as it sits close to the hot turbo/down-pipe.  Your local Pep Boys or whatever will have a T like it, make sure it has the very small holes not the big ones like most vacuum line Ts.  If you cannot find one then let me know, I have these along with a ton of other parts I bought when I found GM was discontinuing a lot of our parts.  Of course you may want to check into getting a T before you yank all this stuff out, but I believe you will find this is all of your heater problems :-).

Glad it is something simple, must have been my bulky heat shield that I love so much. It does a great job, but stuffing it in place can knock shit loose. should have known, Thanks Jeff.
