Test drove a 90 tgp the other day and observed smoke form left hood louver after the drive.  opened hood and smoke was coming from directly around the turbo.  I've heard that some coolant line (near or on the throttle body) may spray directly on the turbo if the line becomes damaged.  I  will be driving this thing again monday and see what happens.  has anyone encountered anything similar?  What does the turbo normally behave like if there is internal and or external problems.  Car has 110K miles on it.  I did drive through a large water puddle while on the drive but my first 90 turbo never seemed to have this happen.  somebody please give me some input.

There must be something leaking near the turbo.  I'd try to smell for coolant first.  If the turbo spins freely with very little side to side play and no in-out play (bring a screwdriver) it is probably fine.  Must be leaking coolant or something nearby.  I've never seen that before, but it is possible.  MAKE SURE IT'S NOT FUEL!  The fuel lines above the turbo can leak when they get old...they leak at the fittings.

I have had both problems. Fuel line ruptured on the way to work one night. That was a fun drive. One of the throttle body coolant lines got a hole in it and was spraying directly on the turbo. That is what I'd look at first. The coolant lines.
