vibration upon starting

Today when I started my car after I got gas, there was a loud vibration from the engine that shook the entire car for maybe 5 seconds.  After that, it idled fine and drove fine.  It has done this before, at least a month ago, and and hasn't done it until today.  Anyone know what's up?
