Rear Brake disc/caliper upgrade.

Hi Chris..Just read your rear brake upgrade. I would like to order all the parts the rotors , pads, and calipers from my local parts house. Are the new caliper brackets a dealer item? If so what part numbers would I need or what year /model vehicle to order them for. It sounds like this is a great upgrade enhancing brake power and serviceability. Thanks.

The caliper brackets are a dealer item. As for what car to say they are for, just pick one...

I just put brakes from a '96 Buick Regal on my '89 GP SE. Any '94+ Regal, Cutlass, or GP will work. Just tell them they are for a '96 regal. Make sure you get all the hardware also. Bolts, pad clips, etc...

Its way easier to get them from a junkyard. And cheaper too. Since they are a pretty reliable setup, junkyard parts are a pretty viable option. I had to order new caliper bolts when I did mine and it was kinda a pain. There are a lot of little parts that the dealer breaks the rear brakes into that would make it harder too.

I'd suggest the j/y also but it sounded like he wanted all new parts. :oops:

Thanks for the advice. Will the brake lines be fairly close also? I'll try the JY around here. So any '94 and later Buick Regal and Pontiac GP's will do?. The more info I give the yard , the better chance I have in getting them. I'm also installing a new Prior MC. The entire front chassis has been cleaned, and finished in a black satin epoxy. All lines were polished and cleared, clips, w/harness detailed also. The block is being done (lower half), new axle seals, hoses, turbo rebuild, JM xover , KN intake, coils, painted ex manifolds, polished heat shields, new rad, timing chain, etc

Use your existing brake lines. They just need straightened a little to fit. The '94 + lines come off the caliper and connect in a different spot than ours.

yeah, thats what I figured too. But even if I was doing what he is doing I think I would still get the junkyard as its alot of little crap to track down. I did a pretty good job of cleaning the stuff up so it looks new on mine.

It doesn't take much to clean them up. Here's my j/y brakes...
