How many people out there still have their isulation on the bottom of their hood?  Mine is soaked with oil, grease and dirt and I'm thinking of taking it off.  Are there any negative effects to doing this?  What are the replacement options?

I was going to take mine out but decided to replace it instead. I was worried the heat from the turbo would mess up the paint on the hood. A new one costs around $40 from a dealer.

I threw away my old insulation and got a nearly new one from an NA GP.  I just cut out the holes for the vents, it makes it quieter, since the primary use of my STE is "family mobile", however for the TGP additional hood scoops like the SLP ones are in the planning stages w/ no insulation.

That's what I was worried about.  It there anyone that has had their paint messed up because of this?

I have mine off, but I haven't run too many good long runs with it off yet. So far it hasn't hurt the paint.

not a TGP, but my turbocharged Volvo 740 did not have a hood insulator when I got it about a month or so ago, the previous owner said that she does not have any clue when it was removed. No problems with the paint so far, I'm thinking of buying the GTP hood louvers from the "for sale" section and putting em in the Volvo hood..  8)

Well, mine is coming off this weekend then.  If anyone has had a problem in the past with doing this though please let me know.  Thanks

Those louvers would look pretty cool on a volvo! If you do it, be sure to post some pics, I would love to see that.

I'll be sure to post a pic or two in the "off topic" section when I do undertake this project.
