Title: PCV System
Post by: Chris A on May 08, 2003, 05:33:57 AM
I started this on a new topic since it didn't really have anything to do with TGP Pics.

No. Where would the air come from that the PCV valves would suck out of the crankcase? There isn't any damage from this, and there really isn't anything that can be done about it. As far as emissions, yes the best thing would be to have the breather hooked up to the air intake. Manufacturers recognize that the blowby etc happens and forces the vapor out the breather which is why they implement some kind of oil seperator in their breather system.

Short term the small amount of oil vapor won't harm anything either. But if there is too much vapor (don't ask how much is too much I really don't know, but it would have to be alot),  it can affect octane rating of the fuel.
