i was adding water to the radiator and as I am pouring it in I hear water dripping on the ground. I look underneath and the water is coming out as fast as I put it in. It seems to be dripping out from around the transmission pan and oil pan almost directly under the turbo. I have been trying to find a split or blown hose (I am praying thats all it is) but I cant see where the leak is originating from. Any ideas?
Is it coming out only when the car is running, or just while you are filling it? 8)
Is there a chance the drain plug is open on the bottom of the radiator? Or maybe broke?
this happens with the car turned off. Would the drain plug be that far back from the radiator?
The drain is usually right on the radiator...not back by the transmission pan. The coolant is most likely leaking down from somewhere higher. Wash your engine down...let it dry..and then check for leaks. That's how I found my 3 power steering leaks. If it was on the passenger side, I'd have more ideas. But I've never run into any leaks on the driver's side.
I'll try that tomorrow. If it was on the pass side I would almost immediately say water pump, but this has me at a loss.
When I asked if it could be the drain, I meant if it is open it will shoot out 4" - 6". It could be hitting something and running down. Can you see down into the drain plug or haven't you looked?
it's not the drain plug. I had my brother put water in with me underneath the car and it wasn't coming out of there.
Well, there are so many coolant hoses on the drivers side.
2 tb hoses, heater hose, turbo hoses. Check all over the top under the throttle body thats where most could be. Otherwise, it could be a freeze plug. IIRC there is one on the back of the motor.
