Title: Boost surges?
Post by: RedZMonte on May 14, 2003, 08:18:05 AM
I not hooked up my boost guage. With open cone and downpipe and gutted cat i see up to a peak of 10psi. when spooling up i hear the turbo sputtering. and the boot guage Fluctuates w/ the spoolup noise. Is this a sign of a bad x-over? The problem happends at all boost levels not just high boost. I am also getting HORRIBLE gas moilage which i assume the X-over leaking would cause by sucking in air and throughing off the O2 readings.

where should fuel cut off be? I have boosted up to 10psi w/o a problem "asside from the boost fluctuation". I wonder if the previous owner got a chip? Is the JeffM chip have a marking on it to signify it from a stock chip?

The one that Jeff M. sent me had Top Gun 160 written very small in one of the holes on the memcal.  The chip was identical to the stock one, all except for that writing.  Open it up and take a look.

here is the latest info on my tgp:

Yesterday it ran like shyt in the morning.. then during lunch it ran awsome, no surging not a single problem, then after work it ran like shyt again. I also got (best i can descrive it) a backfire out the intake a couple times. A large "POP" noise.

Any recomendations would be appriceated :).. I am personally leaning tward the X-over pipe.
