Title: Louver question?
Post by: mfewtrail on May 17, 2003, 11:59:01 PM
Hi, I'm finally getting around to getting off my lazy rear and cutting out my project cars hood to fit my GTP style louvers in and was thinking a tad about the actual installation and which way I should place the louvers. To the best of my understanding, TGP/GTP/TSTE's have the louvers placed in such a fashion that they act as a vaccum of sorts and draw heat out of the engine bay because they are placed in a "low pressure" area IIRC. Ok, my question is, what if I were to turn the louvers around from their standard mounting position and have them so the larger area is facing the windshield and the smaller portion is facing the front bumper, would air flow into the louvers or not if they were placed at a similar incline/position as the stock grand prix placement. Thanks for any info/insight on this subject, as always, it will be greatly appreciated. :D

It would take air in but I'm pretty sure it would just go back out and up the windshield.

Sounds good, If I fabricate some box type pieces around the underside of the louvers, I should be able to whip something up and pipe it in to my intake...or I'll take a different approach and have a detachable piece hooked to the air intake that channels air from under the front bumper. I'm just brainstorming a little here 8)
