Title: Stock Rim Question
Post by: The Burning Rom on May 27, 2003, 12:12:43 PM
A few of my rims are dinged up, and one is very faded out. I'm going to have to find a few replacements. I was just wondering if the gold on the TGP wheels was a different tint than the gold on the 91+ gold crosslace rims. It almost looks like the TGP rims are darker, but I'm not sure.  :? Any input is appreciated! Thanks! :)

I have 2 black TGP's and one has darker more rich looking gold and the other has a much lighter gold.  Don't know why, but I prefer the dark a little better.

find out the gold color and have them repainted, or just get the paint yourself, paint em and save some $$$.

They're powdercoated though..it's kinda hard to do that yourself. And I'm going for the restored stock look. ;)

I had mine plastic bead blasted and then I spray painted them the Exact same color as stock, cost $70 total, problay be cheaper if you could figure out a better way to rough them out, BTW it looks great, it ran a little, but that's my fault.

have a set of the original wheels on my 89 I might be interested in selling you if you can figure out how many you need.   I'm going with another set off of a 91 gtp and will have them powder-coated to match the black car.  $200 for the four of them or $125 for two.  they are in very good shape--no peeling/minor scratches--no gouges.

there is a company in Md not far from me that specializes in wheel repair and resto.  They are not "cheap" but are very reasonable for what they do.  I have seen them repair very expensive cracked and severly bent wheels, not to mention refinish them exactly as original.  They do alot of insurance work on factory wheels that are expensive, such as audi pearl white amg style.  They are called Ye Old Wheel Shop, located in Elkridge Md.  I know they have an 800 number but not sure of it, for tha matter I do not know either number by heart, doh!  Ill get info and add to post.

ok here is the number
